Robert “Bob” Dunderdale, 79, of Chelmsford, MA died Thursday January 5, 2012 after a long illness at Lowell General Hospital.

He was the former husband of the late Dorothy (Dixon) Dunderdale who died in 2005.

Born in Dracut, MA, he was the son of the late Charles Jr. and Vina Dunderdale. He grew up in Dracut and graduated from Dracut High School with the class of 1950. He was also a graduate of the Mass. Criminal Justice Training at the Police Academy.

During the Korean War, He served in the US Army.

Bob worked as a Police Officer in Tyngsboro for over 30 years before retiring in 1986 as a Sergeant and Court Prosecutor. He worked as a Supervisor of the Buildings and Grounds at the Chelmsford Public Schools for 18 years before retiring in 2004.

He loved to fly his Piper Cherokee. He was a former member of the Dracut Congregational Church. He was a member of the Lowell and Tyngsboro Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his son, Ronald Dunderdale and his wife Julie of Lancaster, NH; his daughter, Jill E. Bowen and her husband, John of Tyngsboro, MA; five grandchildren, Aaron and Adam Dunderdale, Rachel and Benjamin Bowen, and Jasmine Dow; two great grandchildren; a cousin, Gail Sinclair, and several close friends.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Visiting hours Monday from 3 to 7:00 p.m. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Service in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery, Tyngsboro. For those that wish, memorials may be made in his name to the American Kidney Foundation 6110 Executive Boulevard Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
