Mrs. Joan E. (Nagle) Mahoney, 79 of Lowell, MA died Thursday evening, May 3, 2012 at her home after a brief illness.

She was married for 47 years to the late Leo D. Mahoney who died June 2, 2010.

Joan was the daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Nagle. She was a graduate of Keith Hall with the class of 1949.

In her earlier years, she worked for Courier Citizen of Lowell, MA.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church of Lowell, MA.

She was happiest spending time with friends and family and especially her cherished grandchildren.

Joan is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Shelagh Mahoney and Joe McNamee of Lowell, MA; Meghan Mahoney and Christopher Finneral of Westford, MA; and by a son and his wife, Patrick and Joanna Mahoney of Nashua, NH; seven grandchildren, Molly Mahoney McNamee, Sean Leo McNamee, Michael Mahoney McNamee, Leo Joseph McNamee, Kate Mahoney McNamee, James Christopher Finneral, and Grace Elizabeth Finneral; two sisters, Patricia Griffin of Merrimack, NH and Virginia Thompson of N. Chelmsford, MA; many nieces, nephews and several close family friends.

She was the sister of the late Barbara Mulligan of Lowell, MA.

At her request there will be no calling hours. On Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. family and friends are welcome to visit at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 P.M. at St. Patrick's Church in Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
