Obituary for

William F. O'Hara

of Chelmsford

William “Bill” F. O’Hara, 82, of Chelmsford died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Lowell General Hospital.

He was married to the late Patricia (Westberg) O’Hara who died February 16, 1997.    

Born in Somerville, MA on January 10, 1927, the son of the late Henry and Mary (Alves) O’Hara. He was a graduate of Somerville High School with the class of 1945 and graduated from Norwich Military Academy.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked at McKittrick Hardware Store in Lowell for over 20 years before retiring in 2007. He was a member of the VFW Post 662 of Lowell, where he was apart of the “Over the Hill Gang” and was awarded the Irishman of the Year. He also was a member of the American Legion A.W. Vinal Post 313 of N. Chelmsford, and a former member of the Chelmsford Elks. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He enjoyed the Boston Sports and the ocean.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Laurie O’Hara of Cumington, MA and Michael O’Hara of Chelmsford, MA; two daughters and a son in-law, Julie O’Hara of Dracut, June and Martin Senich of Southington, CT; 3 grandchildren, Charles C. Anderson of Manchester, NH, Calvin O’Hara Balch of Portland, ME and Sean P. Senich of Southington, CT.
He was predeceased by his daughter in-law, Deborah Stocker of Dracut, MA.
