Mr. Vartkes Donabedian, 84, of Lowell, MA died on Saturday April 26, 2008 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Aleppo, Syria on July 24, 1924, the son of Donabed and Siranoush Donabedian. He was an accomplished writer who had worked his way up in several Armenian newspapers both here in the U.S. and abroad.

He is survived by his long time companion of 61 years, Hrip Donigian of Lowell; a daughter, Arpi Vartanian of Chelmsford; three sons; Zohrab Donabedian of Westford, Hovig Donabedian of Westborough and Shahe Donabedian of Thailand; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, Levon Donabedian of Toronto, CA and George Donabedian of Toronto, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE

DONABEDIAN, Vartkes Donabedian of Lowell died April 26, 2008. Visiting hour Wednesday April 30, 6 to 8 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Road, in Chelmsford. Burial at Westlawn II Cemetery in Lowell. Donations may be made to Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church or to the American Stroke Association 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA.
