Obituary for

Ruth E. (Kinney) Singleton

of Tyngsboro, MA

Mrs. Ruth E. (Kinney) Singleton of Tyngsboro, MA, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, MA after a brief illness.

She was married to the late Richard A. Singleton who died on August 13, 2000, after 57 years of marriage.     
Ruth was born in Lowell, MA, on January 14, 1922 the daughter of the late Norman and Ethel (Cummings) Kinney. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1940.
She lived in Tyngsboro, MA from 1943 to 1979 and retired to Deland, FL in 1979 until her return to Tyngsboro, MA, in 2001.

She was employed over the years at Woolworth Dept. Store in Lowell, MA, and also in the cafeteria at Lakeview School in Tyngsboro.  Ruth was an avid Red Sox fan and was excited when they won the two World Series, and loved to watch professional golf, and to knit and crochet.
In the past she was a member of the First United Baptist Church in Lowell, MA, and the First Baptist Church in Paisley, Fl., and attended the United Methodist Church in West Chelmsford, MA.

She was a member of the Tyngsboro Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by two daughters Joyce Bell and her husband Harold, of Smethport, PA, Dorothy Lowe and her husband Dennis, of Nashua, NH, and two sons Richard Singleton and his wife Lisa, and Donald Singleton and his wife Audrey, all of Tyngsboro, MA, and a daughter-in-law Barbara Singleton of Lowell, MA, seven grandchildren Richard (Rick) Singleton, Beth Craig, Dawn Stryker and her husband Donald all of Tyngsboro, MA, Brian Bell of Nashua, NH, Laurie Smith and her husband Curtis of Dracut, MA, Carrie Singleton and her fiancé, Jeremy Branchi and Matthew Lowe and his fiancée, April Vallerand all of Nashua, NH, and seven great grandchildren, Emily and Caleb Craig, Elizabeth Smith, Caitlyn and Alyssa Stryker, Andrea and Alison Bell, and sisters Lillian Mosher of Battle Creek, MI, and Shirley Lyko and her husband Ernest, of Dracut, a brother-in-law George Singleton and his wife Jane, of Methuen, MA, two sisters-in-law, F. Willa Singleton and Virginia Singleton.  Ruth is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as several close friends.

She was the grandmother of the late Steven Bell.

SINGLETON, Ruth E. (Kinney) Singleton of Tyngsboro, MA died April 6, 2008. Visiting hours Tues. 4 to 8 p.m.  Funeral Wed. 10AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD followed by a funeral service at 11AM at the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church, 242 Main St. Chelmsford. A private burial will be held at Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
