David “Bud” Kinghorn Spriggs, 87, of Chelmsford died Sunday April 27, 2008 at
the Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Alice (Silcox) Spriggs, with
whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on November 19, 2007.
Born in Lowell, MA on January 22, 1921, he was the son
of the late James and Catherine (Kinghorn) Spriggs. He was raised in Lowell and
attended the Lowell school system.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy in
Boston, MA and on the Samoan Islands. He attained the rank of Seaman First
Class.
A resident of Chelmsford since 1971, Bud worked as a
Linotype Machinist with Courier Printing of Lowell for over 44 years before
retiring in 1982. He and his wife summered at Little Island Pond in Pelham, NH
at their summer cottage for over 50 years.
He was an active member of the Pawtucket
Congregational Church in Lowell and served on the Church’s Stewardship and
Financial Board, and the Trustee Board. He also was involved in the restoration
of the historic windows of the Church.
He is survived by his wife, retired Home Economics
Teacher at the Moody Jr. High School in Lowell, Alice (Silcox) Spriggs of
Chelmsford; a son and two daughters in-law, Ken and Jacqueline (Jean) Spriggs of
Sugarloaf, PA and Deborah (Spriggs) Cappozoli of Framingham, MA; three sisters
in-law, Thelma Sherwood of Kennebunk, ME, Marion Spriggs of Merrimack, NH and
Evelyn Silcox of Mt. Dora, FL; two step grandchildren, Christina Lawton,
Sugerloaf, PA and Richard Lawton of McAdoo, PA; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, David Silcox Spriggs
who died in 1979 and his brother James Spriggs who died in 2001.

MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD. Funeral Services are Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the
Pawtucket Congregational Church 15 Mammoth Rd. Lowell, MA. Burial in Pine Ridge
Cemetery, Chelmsford. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in
his name to the Pawtucket Congregational Church Windows of Faith Fund.
