Obituary for

Charles A. Miller

of West Chelmsford

 
Charles Andrew Miller, 85, of W. Chelmsford, MA died Wednesday August 5, 2009 at the E.N.Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA after a long illness.

He was the husband of Barbara (Malloy) Miller with whom he had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on February 8th.    

Born in Chelmsford, MA on May 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Anthony and Eline (Hanson) Miller. A resident of Chelmsford for most of his life, He graduated from Lowell Trade School.

During World War II, he served in the US Navy as Motor Machinist Mate Second Class. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal with 1 bronze star.

He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator with Pomerleau Sand & Gravel of Westford, MA for many years before retiring in 1986.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a member of Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Chelmsford.
Besides his loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Susan Miller of Belmont, NH; two daughters and two sons in-law, Leah and Ralph Downs of West Chelmsford, MA and Lynne and Greg Mendes of Groton, MA; a sister, Lois Blodgett of Groton, MA; five grandchildren, Kelly Baker, Christine Harmon, Meredith Downs, Justin Downs and Ashley Mendes; 6 great grandchildren, Aaron, Tyler, Brianna, Nathan, Colin and Payton; many nieces and nephews

He was the brother of the late William Miller of Hartford, CT.
