Mrs. Phyllis Marie
(Courteau) Peters of N. Chelmsford, MA passed away suddenly in her home
on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009. The cause is believed to be a heart
attack, brought on by the heat coupled with a recent bout of ill health.
Born in Worcester, MA on August 13, 1933, she had just celebrated her
76th birthday. The daughter of the late Wilfred O. & Rose
(Jette) Courteau, residents of Worcester, MA for most of their lives,
Phyllis enjoyed school and graduated with the class of 1951 from Holy
Name Catholic High. She was married to Nelson V. Peters of Heath, MA on
June 2nd, 1956 and was widowed in June of 1989 after a severe,
long-term illness. Together, they were faithful parishioners of St.
John the Evangelist and were active in the church community.
Survived by their 2 children, Mark Peters and Pamela (Peters) Keller;
Mark currently resides in Costa Rica with his wife Aleyda, and their
young girls Kerry & Jazmine. Pamela lives in Maine with her
husband Geoffrey, their sons Nate & Alex, and year old grandson
Edwin.
She also leaves behind her sister Penny (Courteau) and husband Bill
McKeon of E. Brookfield, MA. Along with their children, Tom &
LuAnn McKeon, Bob & Theresa (McKeon) Ouellette, Ray &
Debbie (McKeon) Chartier, Patty (McKeon) Dillion, Tim & Dawn
McKeon and Brian & Kim (McKeon) Choquette with many great and
great-great nieces and nephews between them. Extended family, several
close friends and long time neighbors are bereft at the news of her
passing.
In her earlier life, she had enjoyed many activities, gardening,
ceramics, and interior decorating were some of her favorites. She was
an ardent reader and collector of a great many things. Hindered by
vision loss due to diabetes in her later years, she still loved her
flowers and enjoyed time spent with family, most especially visits with
her grandchildren. She was a beautiful person, well loved by all who
knew her . . . she will be sorely missed.
FUNERAL NOTICE
PETERS, Phyllis Marie (Courteau) Peters of N. Chelmsford died August
25th, 2009. The funeral will be Thursday, September 3rd, 2009, with a
remembrance visit starting at 10:00 am at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106
Middlesex St., Chelmsford, MA 01863. The funeral mass will begin at
11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Parish, with burial to follow at
St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Riverneck Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01824. Memorials
may be made in honor of Phyllis Peters to the Joslin Diabetes Center,
One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215,
