Obituary for

John J. Mackey

Formerly of Tyngsboro

 
John J. Mackey of Goffstown, NH formerly of Tyngsboro died Monday December 14, 2009 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH after a long illness.
    
He was married to Mrs. Janice M. (Morrison) Mackey, with whom he celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on June 28.
    
Born in Chelmsford, MA on May 29, 1927, the son of the late Thomas E. and Veracunda (Brick) Mackey.  He attended Chelmsford High School and was a graduate of the Lowell Trade School with the class of 1948.
    
During W.W.II, he served in the U.S. Army in the 6th Constabulary Squadron. He attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.
    
He was employed at the G.U. Moore Wool Scouring Mill in North Chelmsford for 30 years, the Ingersoll Rand Corp. for 15 years retiring in 1983. After his retirement he worked part time at the Radisson Hotel in Chelmsford, and Jaccopi's Restaurant in Tyngsboro.  He was a call Fireman with Tyngsboro for 21 years retiring in 1990, and in 1993 he became a volunteer for Tyngsboro's Share Program.
    
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of North Chelmsford.
    
He was a member of and Past Commander of the Robert D. Pelletier American Legion, Post #247 in Tyngsboro and a member of the Walker-Rogers, V.F.W. Post #662 in Lowell.
       
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons and four daughters-in-law, John C. Mackey of Nashua, N.H., Lorraine (Moreau) Mackey of Dracut, Anselm R. and Robin (Chambers) Mackey of Jaffrey, NH, Francis J. Mackey of Nashua, NH, Elizabeth (Curtis) Mackey of Pelham, NH, and Professor David A. and Lisa (Dolan) Mackey of New Boston, N.H.; two daughters, Catherine M. and her husband George Naun of Francestown, NH, and Mary E. DiMauro of Tyngsboro, 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and a cousin Donald and his wife Jane Stuart.

He was the father of the late William J. and Robert J. Mackey, brother of the late Thomas, Edward, and Charles Mackey. He was the father-in-law to the late Michael DiMauro and the late Linda (Arsenault) Mackey

MACKEY, John J. Mackey of Tyngsboro died Dec. 14, 2009. Funeral Thurs. at 10:00 a.m. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford.
