Virginia H. (Golden)
Welch, 87, of Lowell died Sunday December 13, 2009 at the Saints
Medical Center in Lowell after a short illness.
She was the wife of the late John J. Welch who died October 10,
1975.
Born in Lowell, MA on February 3, 1922, daughter of the late P. Frank
and Blanche (Sullivan) Golden. A life long resident of
Lowell, Virginia graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of
1940.
She worked as an assembler at Raytheon and MaComm for many years before
retiring from Honeywell in 1984. She enjoyed the beach and loved bingo
and Foxwoods. She especially loved her cat “Babe”.
She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and member of St.
Margaret’s Sodality.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Welch of Lowell, MA; her
daughter in-law, Maureen Welch of Lowell, MA; her son in-law, Donald
Rogers of Ocala, FL; her brother and his wife, G. Douglas and Ann
Golden of Lowell, Ma; her sister, Norma Boucher of Colorado Springs,
CO; two grandchildren, Douglas and his wife Helena Welch of Durham, NC
and T.J. Welch of Philadelphia, PA; a great grandson, Braeden Welch of
Durham, NC; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, former Chelmsford Selectman, Thomas
Welch who died August 2, 1996, her daughter, Carol Rogers who died in
June 4, 2007, her siblings, Francis Golden, Mary Johnson, Myrtle
Vienneau, Hazel Brady, and Shirley Roper.

Welch, Virginia (Golden) Welch, 87, of Lowell, MA died Dec. 13, 2009.
No visiting hours. A funeral mass will be Wed. at 9:30AM at
St. Margaret’s Church, Stevens St., Lowell, MA. Burial in St.
Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA. For those that wish
contributions may be made to the Greater Lowell Visiting Nurse Assn.
