A. Winifred "Winnie" (Rhodes) Dixon

Formerly of N. Chelmsford

Mrs. A. Winifred “Winnie” (Rhodes) Dixon formerly of N. Chelmsford, MA died Thursday evening, February 14, 2008 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell, MA.

She was married to the late Mr. George R. Dixon who died July 10, 2003.

Born in Keighley, Yorkshire County, England on January 4, 1921, the daughter of the late James and Alice (Cooney) Rhodes.  She was a graduate of Westford Academy High School with the class of 1938.

She was employed over the years with Southwell Combing Co. in North Chelmsford and Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training until her retirement in 1986. 

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of Chelmsford.

Winnie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George R. and Theresa (Glancy) Dixon, Jr. of North Chelmsford, a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara L. (Dixon) and Richard J. MacKinnon of Venice, FL, two sisters-in-law, Anna Grant of Marlboro, MA, Dorothy Armstong of Chelmsford, four grandchildren, John Dixon of Lowell, MA and Kerri Dixon of Boston, MA, Michael MacKinnon of Winnetka, IL and Stephen MacKinnon of Bradenton, FL, four great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Catherine MacKinnon from Winnetka, IL, Jack and William of Bradenton, Fl as well as several close friends.

DIXON, Mrs. A. Winifred “Winnie” (Rhodes) Dixon formerly of N. Chelmsford, MA died Feb. 14, 2008. Visiting hours Mon. 3 to 7 PM. Funeral Tues. at 8AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
