Obituary for

Robert "Bob" Furness

Of Westford

Mr. Robert “Bob” Furness, 46, of Westford, MA died Monday February 2, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family after a brave battle with Esophageal Cancer.

He was married to Mrs. Christine (DuBosky) Furness with whom he would have celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on February 20th.    

Born in Boston, MA on September 7, 1962, the son of William Furness of Quincy and the late Donna (Barthelmess) Furness, who died March 14, 1993.  He was a graduate of Abington High School with the class of 1980 and East Coast Aero Tech of Lexington where he obtained his certificate in Airframe and Power Plant Mechanics.

He owned and operated Bob Furness Autoworks of Westford and Chelmsford and was also employed at Lowe’s in Woburn, MA.

He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Church of Westford, MA.

He was a volunteer with Cub Scout Pack 96 of Westford and coached flag football and soccer with the Town of Westford.  He loved spending time with his family,playing his guitar, watching sports with his oldest son, Rob, and the brothers. He also loved doing projects around the house.
Besides his wife and father, he is survived by his stepmother, Diane (LaFond)Furness of Quincy; four sons, Robert Furness and his fiancé, Melissa Motte of East Bridgewater, MA, Nathan L., Nicholas N., and Trevor W. Furness of Westford, his granddaughter, Audrianna Furness of East Bridgewater, MA, his brother and sister-in-law, William B. and Lisa Furness, III of Abington, MA, his sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Timothy Pratt of Longmeadow, MA, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louis and Bridget (Kavanagh) DuBosky of Westford, his sister-in-law Cathleen DuBosky of Boston, MA, his two brother-in-laws and their wives, Allen and Shannon DuBosky of Lowell, MA and Michael and Marieve DuBosky of Montreal, Canada, and his nieces and nephews, Theodore Pratt, Rebecca Pratt and Avery Pratt of Longmeadow, MA, William B. Furness, IV, James Furness, and Thomas Furness of Abington, MA, and Kyliee DuBosky and Caden DuBosky of Lowell, MA.

FURNESS, Mr. Robert “Bob” Furness of Westford, MA died Feb. 2, 2009. Visiting hours Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Sat. at 9:00 a.m. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church 107 North Main Street Westford, MA. Cremation at Merrimack Crematory.
