Obituary for

Beatrice T. Hoar

Retired Lowell High Teacher

Ms. Beatrice T. Hoar of Lowell died Saturday February 7, 2009 at the Saints Medical Center in Lowell, MA.

Born in Lowell, MA on Aug. 18, 1913, the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Delaney) Hoar. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1930, and received her B.A. in Latin from Boston University with the class of 1934, and attended University of Lowell.

She worked as a teacher and guidance councilor at Lowell High School, for over 30 years until retiring in 1980. She was an advocate for the children of Lowell’s first grade students to be given their first book for reading.

She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, and she a member of the church’s Blessed Virgin Sodality.

She was a member of Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Association.

She is survived by a brother Paul Hoar of Lowell, MA, and many nieces and nephews among them is Paul and his wife Joanne (Dunn) Hoar, Jr. of Lowell, MA, and many grand nieces and nephews among them is Jordyn Hoar, Zachary Hoar, and Jacob Hoar all of Lowell, MA.

She was the sister of the late Att. Frederick J. Hoar of Lowell, MA, Roger Hoar of Tewksbury, MA and the late Elizabeth Johnson of Billerica, MA.

HOAR, Ms. Beatrice T. Hoar of Lowell, MA died Feb. 7, 2009. Visiting hours Tues. 2 to 4 and 6 to 8p.m. Funeral Wed. at 9AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST.
