Mr.
James Michael Shields of Pepperell, MA died Tuesday morning, February
2, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long
courageous battle with cancer.
He was married to Mrs. Doreen (Boutin) Shields with whom he celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on November 1, 2009. Jim
was born in Lowell, MA on November 2, 1963, the son of Judith (Witts)
Shields of Sebastian, Fl and Thomas Shields and his companion Diane
Davis both of Westford, MA.
He was a graduate of Westford
Academy with the class of 1982 and earned his Associate Degree in
Electrical Engineering from University of Lowell.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Communications Technician. His last duty was aboard the USS Fife. For the past twenty years, he was employed with MIT Haystack Observatory in Westford as an Electronics Technician.
Jim
enjoyed fishing and playing golf, but he cherished spending time with
his family the most. He was happiest watching Andrew play football and
was especially proud when he scored a touchdown for his Dad on his
birthday. He enjoyed going to Allison’s soccer games and always made
his cheers heard. He was thankful he was able to see Allison get
her driver’s permit and teach her how to drive.
Besides his wife
and parents he is survived by a son, Andrew James Shields, age 13, a
7th grade student at Nissitissit Middle School in Pepperell; a
daughter, Allison Rose Shields, age 16, Sophomore at N. Middlesex
Regional High School in Townsend; a brother, Lt. Joseph Shields
Westford Police Dept and his wife Jacquelyn of Chelmsford, MA; a
