Mr. Paul Francis
Harhen of Westford, MA died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at his home in
Westford, MA after a long illness.
He was married to Hildred (Burke) Harhen with whom he celebrated their
53rd wedding anniversary on October 23,
2008.
Born in Somerville, MA on October 23, 1933, the son of the late Thomas
and Etta (Mason) Harhen.
He was a graduate of Boston Technical High School with the class of
1951 and a graduate of Northeastern University class of 1962 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and Management.
He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the
destroyer, USS The Sullivans, until his honorable discharge in August
of 1954.
He was employed with Raytheon Corporation in Bedford, Sage Laboratories
in Natick and Tyco Corporation in Waltham, retiring in October of
1998. He held many different patents in the industry.
He was an active communicant of St. Catherine’s Church of Westford, MA
as a lecturer and a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a Youth Minister
at St. Basil’s in Methuen.
He was a kind, generous man whose faith was very important to him.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law,
Michael and Lauren Harhen of Thetford, Vt. And Paul K. Harhen of
Westford, MA, two daughters and son-in-laws, Kathleen and Robert
Gundersen of Glenburn, Maine and Lorraine and Thomas McEnaney of
Westford, MA, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Robert and Gretta Harhen
of Ipswich, MA and Thomas and Christine Harhen of Bridgewater, MA and
one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph Bedard of Hyde Park,
MA. He is survived by 10 grandchildren.

Visiting hours Sun. 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral Mon. at 9AM from the DOLAN
FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10AM
at St. Catherine’s Church in Westford. Burial in Fairview Cemetery,
Westford. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Paul’s memory to
Project Lifesaver, c/o the Westford Police Dept., 53 Main St.,
