Mrs. Dorothy Ann (Shedd) Hood of
Chelmsford died Tuesday night, January 13, 2009 at Lowell
General
Hospital
after a brief
illness.
She was married to the late Mr.
W. Russell Hood who died February 20, 2000.
Dorothy was born in Lowell,
MA
on May 8, 1926, the daughter of the late Henry C. and Anna E. (Stewart)
Shedd. She was a
graduate of Chelmsford
High
School
with the class of 1944, and earned a Bachelor in Art Degree in
Education from Eastern
Nazarene
College
in Boston.
Dorothy taught Special Education
in the early 1960’s in the Chelmsford Public Schools at the McFarlin
School.
She was an active member of the First Church
of the Nazarene in Lowell.
Mrs. Hood enjoyed spending
quality
time with family and friends and she also fond of playing piano.
She is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law, David and Deborah Hood of Dracut,
a daughter, Carolyn Arsenault, a brother, Thomas Shedd of Chelmsford,
four cherished grandchildren, one
great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and close family friends.
She was the sister of the late
William Shedd of Chelmsford
who died August 2004.
