Obituary for

Robert C. Dooley, Sr. 

Retiree of New England Power Company

 










Robert Chadwick Dooley, Sr., 85, of Lowell, died July 31, 2009 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the widower of the late Pauline R. (Rogers) Dooley who died in 2003. They were married on June 26, 1948 at the Sacred Heart Church in Lowell, MA. Born on April 11, 1924 in Lowell, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Edith (Chadwick) Dooley. He graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1942 and attended Lowell Technological Institute.

During WWII he served in the US Army in China, Burma and India (CBI) with the Enlisted Reserve Corps 879th Engineers Aviation Battalion from June 1943 to January 1946. He earned the Award of Glider Badge in 1945.
    
Bob worked at the Lowell Electric Corp on Perry St. in April 1950, and transferred in March of 1958 to the Salem Harbor Station of the New England Power Company. He retired in May of 1986 after 36 years of service. He worked as a Foreman of the Instrument Dept. at the time of his retirement. Upon his retirement he became a member of the “Blown Fuses”.
    
He was devoted to his family and loved working on the family genealogy. He was an avid card player and enjoyed computers. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan.

He was a member of the First United Baptist Church on Church St. in Lowell.

He is survived by a son, Robert C. Dooley, Jr. and his wife, Taeomi (Martyn) Dooley of Westford; a daughter, Dawn M. Dooley and her husband, Thomas Gudinas of Westford, six grandchildren, Torrieann Dooley of Charlotte, NC, Teverann Dooley of Boston, MA, Chad Dooley, Trebor Dooley, Tarym Dooley, and Owen Dooley Gudinas all of Westford; a brother, Donald and his wife Prudence (Smith) Dooley of Lowell, a brother-in-law, James Garmon of Hudson, Ohio, many nieces, nephews and their children.

He was the brother of the late Virginia (Dooley) Garmon of Hudson, OH and Edward “Teddy” Dooley, Jr.

Dooley, Robert C. Dooley, Sr. of Lowell, died July 31, 2009. Visiting hours are Tuesday Morning from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:30 at First United Baptist Church 99 Church St. in Lowell. Burial in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell.
