Frederick J. Pohl 

Active Boy Scout Leader of Dracut

 
Mr. Frederick James Pohl, 70, a 23 year resident of Dracut formerly of Lexington, MA died Wednesday morning, July 8, 2009 in Lowell, MA, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was married to Mrs. Janet (Blanchard) Pohl with whom he would have celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on September 12, 2009.    

Fred was born in Boston, MA on May 6, 1939, the son of the late Frederic J. and Helen (Barry) Pohl.  He attended Lexington Public Schools.

He served with the U.S. Air Force.

He was previously employed with Harvard University, and more recently, Lowell National Historical Park.

He was a communicant of St. Marguerite Parish of Dracut, MA.
Fred was an active and well-known Boy Scout Leader holding numerous positions.  Among them he was the Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 80 of Dracut, MA, and served as the Roundtable Commissioner for the Greater Lowell District of the Yankee Clipper Council BSA. He was a lifetime member of the Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club of Tewksbury, MA.

Besides his loving wife Janet, he is survived by a son Louis Neofotisos of Dracut, MA, a sister, Marjorie A. Rea of Grafton, MA, two nephews, Robert, Rea, of Worcester, MA, and Timothy and his wife Linda Rea of Franklin, MA, and a niece Eileen Levitan of Grafton, MA.

CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA. Burial in Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.
