Robert "Bob" Davidson

Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather

Robert “Bob” Lenox Davidson, 72, of Chelmsford died Monday June 23, 2008 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, MA after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the husband of Geraldine “Gerry” (Hackett) Davidson with whom he would have celebrated their  45th wedding anniversary on September 7.      

Born in Lowell, Ma on Feb. 27, 1936, the son of the late James Paul and Alice (Doyle) Davidson. He was raised in Lowell, attended St. Patrick Elementary School and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1953. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958.

Bob worked as an Extruder Operator at General Electric in Lowell for over 34 years before retiring in 1998. After retirement he worked at the N. Chelmsford Post Office as a casual letter carrier and later at Blossom Florist delivering flowers.

Active in Youth Sports in Chelmsford, Bob volunteered as a coach and Umpire for the Chelmsford Little League for over 20 years. He also coached the Chelmsford Youth Basketball for many years. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf with his sons and closest friends

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford.

Besides his loving wife Gerry, He is survived by three beloved sons, Robbert Lenox Davidson Jr. and his wife Susan of Chicago, IL; Michael Paul Davidson and Scott Christopher Davidson both of Fitchburg, MA; Proud Grandfather of Sarah Lenox Davidson; a brother and sister in-law, Richard and Carol Davidson of Punta Gorda, FL and Bridgton,ME; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, James Paul Davidson Jr who died in 2003.
