George Ashton Ricker
Jr., 94, of Chelmsford
died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Genesis
Westford House in Westford, MA.
He
was the husband of Barbara
(Howell)(Erkkila) Ricker with whom he celebrated their 8th wedding
anniversary
on Feb. 5. He was previously married for over 60 years to the late
Eleanor Fern
(Anderton) Ricker who died in December of 1998.
Born in Gloucester,
MA
on August 1, 1913 he was the son of the late George A. and Susan J.
(Fawcett)
Ricker. He
graduated from
the Gloucester
High
School with the class of 1931.
During WW II he worked at General Electric in Lynn. Most of
his life he worked as a foreman
at the H.E. Fletcher Granite Company in Westford until his retirement
in
1980.
He was an active
member of West Chelmsford United Methodist Church and
held many
church positions. He was also a member of the Chelmsford Council of
Aging from
1983 to 1989 and served as Chairman for two years. He also worked with
the
Meals on Wheels Program and was instrumental in the building of the Chelmsford
Senior
Center.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a
daughter, Marcia Brown of
Chelmsford; a daughter in-law, Loretta N. Ricker Seremeth of Hollis,
NH; three
grandchildren, Dr. Susan Englund and her husband, Dr. Douglas Luke of
Kirkwood,
MO, Christopher Ricker and his wife Dr. Wynne Huang of Reading, MA,
Holly
Ricker Sennott and her husband Joseph of Franklin, MA; Great
Grandchildren,
Alina Luke, Andrew Englund, Liam, Lily and Luke Sennott; Step Children,
John
Erkkila and his wife, Betty of Rockport, MA, Kathleen Erkkila of
Gloucester, MA
and Marjorie Erkkila of Fort Davis, TX; step grandchildren, Suzan
Brawnlyn of
Coos Bay, OR, David Brown and his wife Marcia of Greenfield, WI and
Liisa J.
Salmi of Amesbury, MA; Step-sister,
Marjorie and her husband, Glen DeWitt of Cookeville, TN and
step-brother,
Stephen W. Crowell of Rockport, MA.
He was the father
of the late George A. “Ricky” Ricker and brother of the late Mrs.
Charles
(Ruth) Pappas of Gloucester.

the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church 242 Main St. Chelmsford, MA
01863.
There are No Visiting Hours. In
