Mrs. Ruth Frances (Waas) Hekne of Lillian, AL, formerly of Tyngsboro, MA, died January 16, 2006 in Alabama.

She was married to Nils Hekne whom passed away on April 24, 1984 and would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 28, 1984.

Born in Boston, MA on September 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Mr. Henry F. and Mary E. (Ployer) Wass. She was educated in the Boston School System graduating from the Charlestown High School with the class of 1932, and also studied Commercial Law and Civil Services and many Tax Courses.

She was employed by Sherburne Brothers Lumber Company as a bookkeeper for 35 years, as well as the business manager after Mr. Sherburn's death for two years, until her retirement in 1975.

She was a communicant of Tyngsboro Evangelical Congregational Church of Tyngsboro, MA.

She was the treasurer of the Women's Club and past President of the Woman's Club at the United Methodist Church in Lillian, AL. She was the past president of the Women's Club at the Tyngsboro Evangelical Church in Tyngsboro, MA. She managed the Woman's Club Thrift Shop for many years. In the past, she was the S.S. Supt. and Secretary on the Prudential Board where she also served as a clerk for many years. She was a member of the Tyngsboro Senior Citizens Club and past leader of the Girl Scouts of America Troop #348 Tyngsboro for 25 years.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was the sister of the late Henry F. Wass who died while serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, the late Mary Roberts of Randolph, MA and the late Cecilia Brewster of Weymouth, MA.
