 Mr.
Robert L. Sweet a lifelong resident of North Chelmsford
died Monday evening, March 17, 2008 at the Lahey Clinic
in Burlington, MA following a brief illness.He was
the beloved soul mate and best friend of Beverly Ghareeb
of Lowell, MA.
Born in Chelmsford on March 2, 1928, the son of the
late Nathaniel and Mildred (Ward) Sweet. He attended
Keith Academy in Lowell and later graduated from
Chelmsford High School with the class of 1947.
Mr. Sweet served with the U.S. Army and was honorably
discharged in April of 1949, he also served with the
Merchant Marines.
He was employed as an Aviation Master Mechanic at the
General Electric plant in Lynn, MA in the jet engine
division for more than 38 years until his retirement in
1992.
He was a faithful communicant of St. John the
Evangelist Church of N. Chelmsford.
Mr. Sweet was involved with the American Legion Post
313 in N. Chelmsford. He and Beverly traveled
extensively including many cruises, enjoyed going out to
dine and just spending time together. He was a generous
and loving brother.
Besides Beverly, he is survived by a brother and
sister-in-law, Mark and Julia Sweet of S. Windsor, CT,
four sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy and George
Keeffe of Andover, MA, Patricia Sweet of N. Chelmsford,
Janet Connors of Melrose, Louise Sweet of N. Chelmsford,
many nieces and nephews, and close family friends. Bob
will be dearly missed by Beverly’s family, Lillian and
Paul Panagopoulos, Gwen and Fred Noonan, Gale and George
Nikolopoulos and their families who considered him part
of their families.

SWEET, Robert L. Sweet of N. Chelmsford died March 17,
2008. Visiting hours Mon. 4 to 8 PM. Funeral Tuesday at
10 AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST.
CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. John the
Evangelist Church, N. Chelmsford. Burial in St.
Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell. For those that wish memorial
contributions may be made in his name to the St. John’s
Church Building Fund, 115 Middlesex St. N. Chelmsford,
