Westford, MA – Mr.
Norman B. “Bucky” St.Onge, Sr. , born on November 28, 1930 son of the
late George , Laura (Lavingue) and Jean (Fortier). A lifelong resident
of Westford, MA, he passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, May 3,
2009 with Elizabeth, his wife of 52 years, at his side.
Bucky was educated through the Westford public school system. He was a
two sport athlete at Westford Academy and some of his high school
memorabilia is currently on display at the Westford Museum. He enlisted
in the US Army and served in the Korean War where he attained the rank
of Corporal. He was awarded 3 Bronze Service Stars and the Combat
Infantry badge. Upon his discharge from the Army he was employed by
San-Vel Concrete (Lone Star) in Littleton, MA for 31 years until his
retirement. In the late 50’s and early 60’s he was also a volunteer
fire fighter and served on the ambulance crew in Westford.
Never one to sit idle, Bucky was the backbone of the popular Colonial
Oven Bakery in Westford which he started with his family in 1985; they
served up homemade goodies for 20 years. Through the bakery he donated
huge amounts of time and resources to the annual holiday food and gift
baskets for less fortunate families in town. In the 80’s Bucky also
volunteered time to the Nashoba Tech Booster Club and more recently he
was involved in the food pantry at the Westford Senior Citizens Center.
He and Elizabeth loved the coast of Maine where they spent as much time
as they could during the nicer weather. He was a dedicated family man,
a great husband and father; a genuine, ‘salt of the earth’ person and
will be missed.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth (Fleury), he leaves four children;
Laura and her significant other Michael Lemack , Norman Jr.
and his significant other Jennifer Welles, David and his wife
Barbara (Harpley) and Steven and his partner Jack Wallace, two
grandchildren; Nicole and Kimberly, a sister; Paulette (Kallagher) and
two brothers; Robert “Red” and Kenneth “Blair”.
Bucky is the brother of the late Richard, Peter, George Jr. “Skippy”,
and Mona (Strom) and Jeane Louise.
His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Westford
Fire Department, ambulance crew and Police Department and to the
doctor’s and staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at Saint’s Medical Center
in Lowell for their assistance, care and compassion. In keeping with
Bucky’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The
immediate family will celebrate his life with love and laughter at a
later date. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate any
donations be made to one of the following organizations; The Lowell
Humane Society or the Westford Ambulance Fund. |
