Obituary for

Francis J. O'Neill

of Tyngsboro, MA

 
Mr. Francis J. O'Neill, age 77, of Tyngsboro, MA died Monday morning, November 9, 2009 at Edith Rogers Veteran Hospital in Bedford, MA after a long illness.

He was married to Margaret (Blott) O'Neill with whom he would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on December 12, 2009.

Born in Woburn, MA on April 1, 1932, the son of the late Francis O'Neill Sr. and Mary (Rafferty) Kelley. He grew up in Lowell, attended Keith Academy and graduated from Lowell High School.
   
A veteran of the Korean War he served in the US Marine Corps.

Mr. O'Neill worked as a Printer with Raytheon Corp. in Bedford, MA for many years before retiring in 1990. An avid sportsman, he managed the Chelmsford Softball league and the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Tyngsboro. He also coached the men's softball teams in Tyngsboro. He was an avid bowler at DePlama's Bowling league in N. Chelmsford.

He was a Past Commander of Post 313 of N. Chelmsford, MA and member of the East End Club in Lowell, MA. He was a communicant of St. John Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Kevin and his wife Linda O'Neill of Salem, NH, Thomas and his wife Denise O'Neill of Nashua, NH, William and his wife Marianne O'Neill of Tyngsboro, Steven and his wife Martha O'Neill of Tyngsboro and Brian and his wife Irene O'Neill of Lowell; four daughters, Kathie Allard of Nashua, NH, Karen O'Neill of Chelmsford, Barbara and her husband, Chip Crowell of Westford and Shannan and her husband, Charlie Tziolis of Lithia, FL.; six brothers, Earle Kelley of Danvers, Steven and his wife, Diane Kelley of CT; Daniel and his wife, Karen Kelley of Nashua; Ronald and his wife, Judy Kelley of Manchester, NH and Kevin and his wife Susanne O'Neill of N. Deighton, MA; one sister, Maureen and her husband Albert Darrise of The Villages, FL; his step-mother, Olive O'Neill of East Providence, RI; 4 sisters-in-law and their husbands; Judy and Roy Hern, Ellie and Bill MacDonald, Lee and Buddy Wilkins, and Judy Kelley; 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Cassesso, a brother, David Kelley, a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Al Rowe.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Edith Rogers Veteran Hospital in Bedford, MA for the care and love they provided Frank.

CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11:00AM. at St. John the Evangelist Church, N. Chelmsford. Burial will be in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery Tyngsboro, MA.
