Obituary for

Natalie Roark

of Nashua, NH

 
Miss Natalie Roark of Lowell, MA formerly of Nashua, NH died Thursday afternoon, November 26, 2009 at Northwood Nursing Home in Lowell, MA.

Born in Lowell, MA on December 5, 1925 the daughter of the late John and Alice (Casey) Roark. 
She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1945, and Lowell General Hospital of Nursing in 1947, and later attended Boston College.

She served with the U.S. Navy as a nurse during the Korean War.  Her career with the US Navy spanned from 1947 until 1960, with her attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Some of her assignments included duty at US Naval Hospitals in the United States as well as Guam and the Marianis Islands.

After her discharge from the Navy, she was employed as a psychiatric nurse with at the Solomon Mental Health Center for twenty years, retiring in 1990.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Lowell, MA, where she was a member of the Poor Clare Guild, and St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), and past president of the Quota International Inc. Club of Lowell, MA.

She is survived by a brother, John Roark of Lowell, MA, a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Evangelos Tyros of Chelmsford, as well as several nieces, nephews, and close family friends.

She was the sister of the late Frederick Roark of Albany, NH and Cynthia Graham of Newport, RI.
