Brian J. MacPhee of Chelmsford

Brian J. MacPhee of Chelmsford, age 78, died Thursday October 3, 2019 at the Blaire House of Tewksbury.

Born in Brighton, MA on June 2, 1941 he was the son of the late John and Amelia MacPhee.   He graduated from Brighton High School with the class of 1959.

He was raised in Allston/Brighton.

The joy of motorcycles had been a big part of Brian’s life. His favorite past time was caring for the ducks in the local pond.

He is survived by his sister, Jane MacPhee of Waltham; niece, Elizabeth Humphrey of Burlington; nephew, Herbert Humphrey of Milton. He was also a loving great uncle of Nikki, Caroline, and Cole. He will be missed by his two well-loved cats, Jack and Celeste.

He was the brother of the late John MacPhee, Ruth Humphrey, Anne MacPhee, and Diane MacPhee.

Visiting hours Saturday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Burial will be private. Fernand R. Sevigny of N. Chelmsford

Sevigny pic 300x300Fernand R. Sevigny, 89, of N. Chelmsford, MA, formerly of Cambridge, died Thursday morning, October 3, 2019 at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell, MA.

He was married to Marie (Blessington) Sevigny with whom he celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on May 23, 2019.

Born in Watertown, MA, he was the son of the late Peter and Jeanne Sevigny.  He graduated from Marist Fathers High School in Bedford, MA with the class of 1948.

He previously worked at Baxter Healthcare of Bedford, MA, as a receiver. He was a resident of N. Chelmsford since 1977.

Fernand was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church; where he was a Lector, bingo worker, cantor and president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

He was a singer with St. Paul’s Archdiocesan Choir School in Cambridge and the Spindle City Singers in Lowell.

He was Proud “Grampy” to Sophie and Michael Stachulski, Benjamin, Leo and Fern Sevigny.

Besides his wife and grandchildren, he is survived by two sons, Paul and his wife, Ann Sevigny of Chelmsford, Robert and his wife, Emily Sevigny of Lowell; a daughter, Therese and her husband, Thomas Stachulski of Strafford, NH, a sister, Jeannette Holden and her partner, Robert Aumueller of Arlington, MA, a brother-in-law, Harvey Mills of Somerville, and many nieces and nephews.

Fernand was the father of the late Joseph Sevigny, and the brother of the late Lorraine Mills, the late Theodore and Norman Sevigny.

David J. Rocheford of Lowell, MA

obt pic 300x300Mr. David John Rocheford, 66, a lifelong resident of Lowell, MA died Friday September 27, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital.

He was the former husband of Michelle Perron.

Born in Lowell, MA on July 19, 1953 the son of the late Henry J. and Beatrice V. (Zaleski) Rocheford, he was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Mr. Rocheford was employed as a printer for the Courier News in Westford until his retirement in 2008.

He enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler as well as being a member of the Brentwood Bowling League. He was most happy spending quality time with family and friends especially his four cherished grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Rocheford of Lowell, Daniel and Sarah Rocheford of Pelham, NH, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Sandra Rocheford of Pepperell, MA, a sister, Dorothy Mulligan of Chelmsford, four grandchildren, Benjamin Domaingue, Aubrey, Alexander and Emily Rocheford as well as many nieces, nephews and several close family friends.

He was the brother-in-law of the late Gerald Mulligan of Chelmsford.

Arlene Delores Bourque of Groton, formerly a longtime resident of Chelmsford

She was married to Paul J. Bourque Sr. with whom she would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Sept 29th.
Born in Medford, MA she was the daughter of the late Joseph Looney and Pauline Jewett.  She graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1957.
She raised her family in Chelmsford. Arlene co-owned Shattuck Rugs and Bourque Realty in Nashua NH with her husband Paul Sr.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She enjoyed gambling at casinos, playing bingo, and the slot machines.
Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Janice Bourque of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Diane Bourque of Groton, MA, Paul Bourque Jr. and his wife Judith of Nashua, NH, and Steven Bourque and his wife Deborah of Dover, NH.

Arlene enjoyed all seven of her grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Stephanie Thompson and her husband John, Michael Chapin, Arlena Bourque, Laura Bourque, Jillian Bourque, Paul Bourque III, and Nicole Bourque; great grandchildren, Blake and Sayde Thompson.

Sina previously worked at Nova Bio Medical of Billerica.

She was a member of the Glory Buddhist Temple in Lowell.

She was a loving mother and enjoyed crossword puzzles,

knitting, and gardening.

Besides her husband she is survived by her son, Johnathan

Proeung of Lowell; daughters, Susan Prouang of Lynn, MA, and Serena Proeung of Lowell, MA; a grandson,

Raiden Por of Lynn, MA; four brothers and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Sinath Proeung.

Irene P. McGrath of Dracut

Born in Lynchburg, VA she was the daughter of the late John and Massey McGrath.  She attended Billerica High School.
She retired in 2010 from SP & R Transportation of Dracut driving special needs students who she cared for deeply. Previously she worked at Vector Electronics and Tau Tron Electronics.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Irene enjoyed playing the organ and listening to music. She also enjoyed travelling to the ocean and spending time with her family.
She was a communicant of St. Margaret of Scotland Church.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and her husband Mark Bruno of Westford, MA; a brother Philip McGrath of Lowell; sisters, Jean McGrath of Lowell, and Mary Ellen McGrath of Lowell; two grandchildren, Samantha Roddy, and Anthony Roddy Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Travis Purdon, and sister of the late
Paul McGrath, John McGrath, Sharon McGrath, Theresa French and Gail Traywick.

Seen Sang of Lowell

He was married to Horng Lay with whom he celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary on May 15.
Born in Kampot, Cambodia, he was the son of Leam Tear of Kampot Cambodia and the late Hout Pang.  He came to the USA in December of 1984 and became a citizen soon after.
He was employed with Ken Foods in Marlboro.
He was a member of of Wat Khmer Samaki Temple in North Chelmsford, MA.
He was an avid New England Patriots Fan and he loved fishing, gardening, dining out and above all else, spending time with his family. He will always be remembered as a handyman who was always willing to help out.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Siv Seen of Pelham, NH, Sandra Seen of Ipswich, two step daughters, Jariya Kung and Mariya Kung both of Lowell, his mother in law, Chan Ou of Canberra Australia  as well as 6 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation Thursday, September 12, starting at 3:00 PM at the Wat Khmer Samaki Temple, 85 Tyngsboro Rd, North Chelmsford, MA. His funeral procession will be leaving the temple Friday, September 13, at 8:00 AM for his burial which will be in Edson Cemetery, Lowell. Joan Leslie Drew, 75, of North Chelmsford, MA died Saturday, September 7, 2019 at her home.

She was married to James E. Drew with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on the 5th of September.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late John and Leona (Sanford) Alexa.

She graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1962.

She was previously worked at Ferry Road Animal Hospital in Nashua.

She was a former member of the Tyngsboro Congregational Church of Tyngsboro, MA.

She was a member of the Dunstable 4-H Club and enjoyed horse-back riding, summer with her family at York Beach, Maine and traveling.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, David Drew of Pelham, NH, Todd Drew and his wife Kelli of Dracut, MA, Ross Drew and his wife Mary of Tyngsboro, MA, and Jeffrey Drew of N. Chelmsford, MA, a brother, Bruce and his wife Barbara Alexa of North Carolina, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late John J. Alexa, Stanley Alexa, Nancy Whitt, Debra Alexa and Carlie Alexa.

She was married to Ronald L. Benoit, with whom she celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on May 19th.

She was born in Lowell, on Aug. 2, 1946, daughter of the late Harold and Amelia (Davigon) Philbrook.  She graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1965.

Irene retired from GES and previously worked at Kohl’s, Honeywell and Mass Com.

She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandson.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Jeffrey Benoit and his wife Tracy of Litchfield, NH, a grandson, Trevor Benoit, mother–in-law, Dorothy Benoit of Chelmsford, a sister-in-law, Gail Curran and her husband Michael of Chelmsford, siblings, Harold Philbrook and his wife Janice of Harison, ME, Phyllis Lawlor of Dracut, MA, Jean and her husband Leo Young of Lowell, MA, Susan Philbrook of Lowell as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Ann Dumas and Diane Philbrook.

She was married to the late Raymond A. Gobin, who died on January 3, 2003.

Born in Chelmsford, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Helen T. Knox.   She graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 1943.

Margaret was a devoted homemaker to her family.  She helped raise her great granddaughter, Sarah who she adored and loved.

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA.

Margaret was an Auxiliary member of the A.W. Vinal American Legion Post 313 in N. Chelmsford.

She is survived by a son, David and his wife, Stephanie Gobin of Manchester, MD; a daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” R. and her husband, George Bruno Jr.; four grandchildren, Michelle A. Bergeron, Scott J. and his wife, Janice Vaughan, Stephen and his wife, Amanda Gobin and Craig Gobin; four great grandchildren, Sarah E. Bergeron, Russell Vaughan, Brennah Vaughan and Dallas Vaughan and her former grandson-in-law, Roger Bergeron as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert Anderson of Bedford

Obit pic1 300x300Robert “Bob” Anderson of Bedford, former resident of Lexington for over 53 years, age 89, died peacefully after a 7-week battle with heart failure on Friday August 30, 2019 in the prayerful presence of his family.

He was married to Eleanor M. Anderson with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on February 23, 2019.

Born in Boston, MA he was the son of the late Charles William Anderson and Elizabeth (Foy) Anderson.  Raised in Franklin, MA, he graduated from Franklin High School. Bob attended Tufts College in Medford, MA majoring in Math under an NROTC scholarship.  Following graduation, he was commissioned as an officer and served three years in the US Navy on an Aircraft Carrier and an Experimental Task Force Command Ship.

Bob entered the computer industry in 1956 which remained his focus for 57 years. He established his own consulting firm, Anderson Associates of Lexington in 1970, and retired as the owner and operator of that firm in 2013.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, Christopher and his wife Catherine Anderson of Westford, Scott Anderson of Biloxi, MS, and Jeffrey and his wife Candace Anderson of Mystic, CT; a brother, Charles and his wife Amelia Anderson of Wells, ME; a sister, Patricia Klos of Republic, MO; sister in law Priscilla Sarno of Waltham, MA; eight grandchildren, Carly Anderson and her husband Joshua Revkin, Jack, Sarah, Laurel, Sophia, Claire, Lily and Emmett Anderson.

Bob was a communicant of St. Malachy Church in Burlington, and formerly an active communicant of St. Bridget Church in Lexington.

Bob’s daily presence, along with the dedicated and skilled staff at Carlton Willard in Bedford, MA, have been instrumental to his wife Ellie’s continuing and peaceful 9-year journey with Alzheimer’s.  In Bob’s memory, contributions can be directed to the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising effort by his grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family’s fundraising page for team Red Blankets, Red Cars, and Running from the Guards here.

George A. Lagasse of N. Chelmsford

6655 Lagasse Pic 300x300            George Albert Lagasse, 92, of N. Chelmsford, MA, died Thursday morning, August 29, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Nashua, NH.

He was married for over 50 years to the late Elizabeth E. (Helms) Lagasse, who passed away on February 20, 2006.

Born in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Lillian P. (Everett) Lagasse. He graduated from Saint James High School in Haverhill with the class of 1944 and furthered his education by earning a certificate in electrical engineering.

George proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He reenlisted with the Air Force Reserves after his honorable discharge at the convenience of the government from the Army Air Corp.

For much of his life, he was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of N. Chelmsford.

A deeply curious and creative man, George began disassembling and inventing his own contraptions and devices at a young age with his siblings, stories of which have become a part of the Lagasse family mythology. His skill and resourcefulness led him to a successful career at Raytheon in Bedford, MA, where he worked as an electrical engineer for 43 years before retiring in 1991.

In his retirement, he continued to learn and share his enthusiasm for mechanics as a member of the New England Model Engineering Society.

Those close to him will fondly remember him as a craftsman who enjoyed spending time in his workshop, keeping up with the latest in engineering and technology, and sharing his insights with those he loved—whistling a tune all the while.

He is survived by his children, Elaine and her husband Dermot Burke of Bell, FL, Anne and her husband Brad Morris of Nashua, NH, William Lagasse of New Ipswich, NH, and Kathleen Lagasse and her partner Andrea Lariviere of Manchester, NH; a brother, James, and his wife Marie Lagasse of Haverhill, MA, a sister, Joan Veroneau of Plaistow, NH; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Helms of Atkinson, NH; three grandchildren Stephanie and Kevin Morris and Kristen Burke, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph and Everett Lagasse, Lillian “Meg” Sullivan, and Rita Gavin.

San Mech of Lowell

Mech Pic 300x300San Mech of Lowell, age 85, passed peacefully in her home on Sunday, August
11, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was married to the late Heng Kleng also known as Hao Klung.

Mech was born in Thik Khmao, Cambodia, emigrated to the U.S in 1982, and
became a US Citizen on December 13, 2007. She was a committed Buddhist and
was actively involved in all the Buddhist temples in the area.

Mech was the beloved matriarch of her family. She enjoyed cooking, listening to “smoat” (Buddhist chants)  and was a doting grandmother (“yey”) and great-grandmother (“thuot”). She was a caring woman and welcomed many into her homes.

Mech is survived by her children, Koch Heng, Kdep & Sitha Heng,  Sary Mech
& Chhom Chhoeun, Mao Heng & Pauv Noch, Borin Nhel & Sokhong Nhel along with
many nieces, nephews, grandchildren & great grandchildren.

He was married to Sinath Duong with whom he celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on February 9th.

Born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he was the son of the late . . . and Sagiam Wanda.   He graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1984.

He came to the USA in 1983. Samnong worked a Samina Company of Wilmington, MA.

He was a member of the Trairatanaram Buddhist Temple in Chelmsford..

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, Roger Wanda of Lowell and Johnson Wanda of Lowell; daughter, Sakhan Wanda of Lowell; grandchildren, Jeremiah Keith, Benjamin Keith, and Bryson Soun; brother, Aye Wanda and his wife Amanda of Jackson Hole, WY; sisters including, Samnang Wanda and her husband Frank of Grand Rapids, MI; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was married to the late Robert L. LeGacy who died February 5, 2015.

Born in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of the late F. Norton and June Curtis.  She graduated high school from St. Agnes School in Albany, NY with the class of 1961.  She earned her B.A. in Education from Brockport College in New York.

In her early years, Nancy was a kindergarten teacher at the American School in Okinawa, Japan, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westford.

She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Wheeler of Wayne, NJ and Susan Thompson and her husband, Albert DeSalvo of Albany, NY; four step-sons, Robert and his wife, Jai LeGacy of Matthews, NC, Wayne and his wife, Debra LeGacy of Westford, Gary LeGacy of Westford and James and his wife, Wendi LeGacy of North Attleboro, MA; three step-daughters, Jane LeGacy of Phoenix, AZ, Robin LeGacy of Manchester, NH and Allyson LeGacy of Manchester, NH; an aunt, Ruth Salter of Albany, NY; 14 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; nephews, Andrew and Daniel Wheeler, niece, Rachel Biggs, grandnephews, Alex and Nicholas Wheeler, and Wilson Biggs, and grandniece Lillian Biggs.

Nancy’s family would like to thank the nurses at the Langdon Place for their love and care of Nancy.

Francis “Frank” A. Buffo Jr. of Westford

Dad4 287x300Francis “Frank” A. Buffo Jr., 89, of Westford, died Sunday July 28, 2019 at Westford House in Westford. He was married to Jerri Lou E. Buffo with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 8th. Frank was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Francis A. and Josephine Buffo. He graduated from Loyola High School in Towson, MD with the class of 1947. He earned a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland in 1952. He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force in research and development during the Korean War. Frank retired in 1994 from Raytheon where he worked as a senior development engineer primarily on air traffic control systems. He was a communicant and active member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Westford. A resident of Westford for many years, Frank enjoyed playing golf with family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his sons Frank III and his wife Katty Buffo of Thetford, VT and Keith Buffo of Stoneham, MA; daughters Deborah LaBlanc of Ayer, MA and Julia Buffo of Westford, MA; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gloria Schapp and Vivian Howe.

Visiting hours Friday August 9th from 3 to 7 P.M. at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD. Funeral Mass Saturday August 10th at 9 A.M. at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish 107 North Main St. Westford. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery, Westford. Miriam W. Perry of Tewksbury

Perry Pic 300x300Miriam W. Perry, 67, of Tewksbury, MA died Sunday July 28, 2019 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford.

She was married to James Perry with whom she celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on October 18th.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Weldon.   She graduated from Keith Hall with the class of 1969 and attended Northeastern University.

She retired in 2009 from Saints Memorial Hospital of Lowell, MA. Previously she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell.

She loved spending time with her grandsons, spoiling them. Miriam enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage.

Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter, Karla and her husband David Pereira of Dracut, MA; grandchildren, Cameron, Davin, and Justin Pereira; brother, John and his wife Roberta Weldon of Tiverton, RI; sister in law, Eleanor Vail of Las Vegas, NV; lifelong friends, Mary Kaupilla and Barbara Geoffroy, and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Timothy Perry and sister of the late James Weldon.

Edward R. Murray of N. Chelmsford

Obituary PIC 300x300Edward R. Murray, 88, of N. Chelmsford, MA died Friday, July 26, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital.
Born in Lowell on February 14, 1931 the son of the late Roderick and Janet Murray. He attended Lowell High School and worked as a window cleaner for New England Cleaning Co. of Lowell before getting called up from the Army Reserves to serve in the Army during the Korean War.
He worked at Hannaford in Lowell and Dracut.
Edward enjoyed working with his hands especially, woodworking.
He is survived by his brother Joseph Murray of N. Chelmsford; nieces, Sheila Lockwood of CA, Robin Young of Lowell, Gail Young of Lowell; nephew Donald Young of Manchester, NH; grandniece Karyl Oxley of CA; grandnephew Keith Lockwood of WA, great grandnieces Kayla Ann Oxley of CA, Brayanna Grace Oxley of CA.
He was the Brother of the late Eva Young.
The family would like to thank the staff and the Nurses of Encompass Community Services that took care of Edward at home and on hospice.

Lisa Swan of Lowell

ObitPic 300x300Lisa Swan, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital. She was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt.

Born in Lowell, Lisa was the daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Jacqueline (Sullivan) Swan.

She graduated from Lowell High School in 1981. Lisa continued her education at Middlesex Community College, and she graduated with an associate’s degree in 1984. Lisa was employed at Middlesex Community College for almost 20 years and became the Director of Enrollment Processing.

She was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church in Lowell and a member of St Margaret Parish Ladies Sodality.

Lisa was a sweet, compassionate person. She enjoyed spending time with her family and, in particular, with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing board games, watching movies, and taking part in family get-togethers. Lisa’s favorite place in the world was the beach. In earlier days, she spent every weekend at the beach with her sister Pam. Those were her best days.

Lisa was the sister of J. Heidi Swan, who died on January 25, 2019. She is survived by three other sisters, Pamela Swan of Lowell, MA, Karen Swan-son of Tyngsboro, MA, and Robin and her husband David Crossman of Hudson, MA; her brother Robert and his wife Lee Ann Swan of Westford, MA; nephews Andrew Crossman, Joseph Crossman, and Robert Swan III; and nieces Virginia Crossman, Sara Crossman, and Amanda Swan.

The family would like to give special thanks to the excellent caretakers who have cared for Lisa with great kindness and compassion.

Memorials can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the American Cancer Society.

Carol Ann Sciaretta of Westford, MA

6625 Sciaretta Pic 300x300WESTFORD – Carol Ann Sciaretta, 76, of Westford passed away on Monday, July 15 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was married to Dr. James A. Sciaretta with whom she would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on August 13th.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Anna (Stanilonis) Larson. She graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 1961.

Carol retired after many years as the Office Manager for Dr.James Sciaretta DMD Orthodontic Office of Billerica.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Over the years she and Jim traveled to many destinations and spent time at their condo in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. She enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods, going to craft fairs and shopping for antiques. Carol enjoyed her beautiful backyard gardens and treasured her time spent with her loving family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kristen and her husband William Maloomian of Groton, MA, a brother, Robert and his wife Marilyn Larson of Nokomis, FL; four grandchildren, Michael Fahy, Lindsay, Mark and Lauren Maloomian as well as several nieces and many dear friends.

She was the mother of the late Kurt Molleur who passed Jan1, 1996 and Kathy Fahy who passed Jan 1, 2018.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral Mass Saturday, July 20, at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701.
