Adam Silva, 27, of Taunton, passed away on Wednesday Aug. 9, 2017, at home.

He was born in Lowell on Dec. 22, 1989, the son of Cheryl Johnson Silva of Tyngsboro and the late Dennis MacLaren of Tewksbury. Adam received his education at the North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend and Tyngsboro High School.

He loved sports and spent countless hours in the hockey rink and on the lacrosse field during his youth. Also a fiercely loyal Patriots fan, Adam often joked that only Tom Brady could steal him away from his longtime girlfriend, Alyssa Malloch.

An eternal kid at heart, Adam was kind and loving to friends and family and always trying to get those around him to smile. He worked in construction, which was a testament to his adventurous spirit because Adam was actually afraid of heights. Yet on most days, he would challenge himself to face his fears by climbing up onto rooftops.

In July, Adam tested his limits even further by jumping out of a perfectly good airplane with his girlfriend at a skydiving center in Orange, Mass.

Adam worked hard towards staying on track and beating his demons, something he was extremely proud of. Over the past couple of years, the artwork tattooed on his arms grew to tell a story of personal tragedy and triumph. On one arm, dark images served as a reminder of dark times. On the other arm bright images reminded him of the beauty in life—including the names of his beloved sisters, Bethany and Kelsey Silva, whom he often said were the greatest loves of his life. Yes, even bigger than Tom Brady.

Books were also Adam’s passion. A voracious reader from the time he could string a sentence together, Adam feverishly read through the Harry Potter series as a kid and got his family hooked in the process. A self-proclaimed “fountain of useless knowledge,” friends say he was a trivia buff thanks to a lifelong love of reading and researching information.

His other great loves were cheesesteak subs—which makes sense since it is legend that a cheesesteak eaten by his mother on the day he was born helped speed up the whole process—and his beloved grandmother who was always in his corner no matter what, the late Delene Johnson.

Besides his mother, sisters and girlfriend, Adam is survived by his grandfather, Al Johnson; uncles and aunts, Michael and his wife Linda Johnson, and Carl Johnson and his wife Rita Savard, all of Tyngsboro; several cousins from the Johnson family; a stepfather, Jim Silva of Chelmsford; grandmother, Eleanor “Gram” Silva of Nashua, N.H.; and the MacLaren family of Tewksbury.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Adam’s life on Monday, Aug. 14, from 3-7 p.m. at Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St., North Chelmsford. Memorial donations in his name can be made to Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction (PAACA), www.paaca.org 360 Coggeshall St., New Bedford, MA. Arrangement by Dolan Funeral Home 978-251-4041.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. Our Heavenly Father Jehovah has promised to put an end to death, and the causes for it. Then He will reunite us with Adam, and all our dear loved ones, when He resurrects them. What a wonderful hope we have to live together forever in Paradise. (Psalm 37:11, 29; John 5:28, 29; Rev. 21:3-5) May you be strengthened and comforted during this difficult time.

    Cheryl & Family,

Our family is so sorry to hear of the passing of Adam. We all have such fond memories from our hockey days with Steven and Adam…. my wife Loretta really enjoyed your company during those long, cold hours at the rink. Adam was a great kid, and sounds as though he grew up to be an amazing adult. Please accept our deepest condolences. May you all find peace and comfort in your memories of him.

I am so sorry to hear about Adam. I will be making every effort to be representing the Lorman family at the funeral. While I know Adam had his demons, no family deserves to suffer this loss- especially the Johnson family. I send love and healing to all of you.

I offer my sincere sympathy for the tragic loss of your dear son, Adam. Take comfort in Jesus’ promise found at John 11:25,” I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.”
We also find the hope of seeing our dear loved ones again by means of the resurrection at John 5:28,29; “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” May you find comfort in these promises.
