Ernest Brown, 70, of Pittsburg, NH, formerly of Hudson, NH, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Hudson, NH.  Ernie had been diagnosed with cancer just a month ago but due to the aggressiveness his battle was short.  He leaves behind his wife of nearly 46 years, Susan (Foster) Brown, two sons, Ernest Brown II and his wife Melissa of Brookline, NH, Craig Brown and his wife Justine also of Brookline, NH as well as a daughter Christina “Tina” Brigham and her husband Kevin of Hudson, NH.

Ernest was born in Lowell, MA, September 25, 1953 and raised in Dracut, MA.  He was the beloved son of the late Harvey Brown and Sylvia (Baxendale) Brown.  Ernest was the youngest of three siblings, Richard and his wife Victory of Duxbury, MA, and his sister Lois Townsend and her husband David Townsend of Clermont, FL.  He was a communicant of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church as a young man.  Ernie graduated from Dracut High School with the class of 1971.  He was a pressman at Courier in Westford, where he worked the majority of his life; retiring after 43 years.  While at Courier, Ernie coordinated social activities for his fellow colleagues such as playing softball or hockey.

During retirement, Ernie pursued his love of the outdoors by riding his snowmobile as often as possible.  He was very happy to no longer have to pull his snowmobile trailer again as his new home was connected right to a snowmobile trail.  Ernie also enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, ATV’s and tinkering.  Those who knew Ernie, knew there was no flea market or yard sale he could pass by and not stop.  He was always in search of the best deals.  Ernie was also known to be very giving of his time, and would always help someone in need.

Ernie was an active member of several snowmobile clubs up in Northern NH.  He was a member of both the Pittsburg Ridge Runners as well as the Swift Diamond Riders snowmobile club out of Stewartstown, NH.

He was a loving and involved son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, mentor and friend.  He was Uncle Ernie to four nephews. Being a Grampy was one of his most loved roles.  He was a wonderful Grampy to nine grandchildren and a Great-Grampy to three great-grandchildren.  Many memories and stories were made with his best friend, Eric Fredriksen over the last 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey and Sylvia Brown, and his three children who were born prematurely on September 23, 1978.

Ernie was an advocate for further research in Alzheimer’s, which was an organization dear to his heart.  Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.  As stated above, Ernie loved his time on the trails, donations can also be made to the Swift Diamond Riders at P.O. Box 331, Colebrook, NH 03576.
