Janet (Clarke) Lorman, 89, a lifelong resident of Tyngsboro, MA died on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Belvidere Healthcare Center, Lowell, MA.
Janet was the loving wife of the late Richard Lorman who passed away just three months earlier. This year they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Born in Tyngsboro, MA on October 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Ethel Clarke. After graduating from Lowell High School she attended Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, upon graduation she started her family and began her career working for Nashoba Boards of Health as a traveling hygienist. Over the years she cleaned the teeth of hundreds of school children, many of the younger ones referred to her as the “Tooth Fairy”. She was also known for supplying Trick-or-Treaters with not just candy but a new toothbrush every Halloween. Raising her family while working full time was not the norm in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, but she did it with a grace that will always define her strength and personality.
Janet served on the Tyngsboro Board of Health for many years. She so loved her small town and her service will always be remembered. Before Alzheimer’s overtook her she enjoyed doing word puzzles, meeting with her group of friends, fondly known as the “3 Janets and Sharlee” for coffee and anytime spent with family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
She was a member of the Women’s Club with the Evangelical Congregational Church of Tyngsboro.
Janet will be remembered for her constant smile. Even when she lost her voice her gentle sweetness put joy in the hearts of those around her. Janet would always say “Growing old is not for sissys.” Her road may not have always been easy these last few years but she will be remembered for choosing a life path full of grace and dignity.
Janet is survived by her son, Charles Lorman of Peterborough, NH; daughter Tina and her husband, David Hamolsky of Rindge, NH and a daughter Jane and her husband Timothy Proulx of Nashua, NH; a sister Louise Lorman of Hudson, NH; four grandchildren Benjamin and his girlfriend Amanda, John and his wife Tracy, Jared and his wife Chelsea and Ginny and her fiancé Ben and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was the sister of the late Robert, Horace, Blakely and John Clarke, and the late Frances Gray and Christina Bell. Janet was also predeceased by her dear friend the late Delene Johnson.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and love to all the staff members at Belvidere Healthcare Center and Chelmsford Crossing for the loving care and compassion shown to Janet throughout her time with them.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverley Oaks Rd. Waltham, MA 02452. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.

Dear Tina and Lorman Family,
It was sad to read that you lost your mother and father. They were such wonderful people, both contributing to our little town of Tyngsboro. May they rest in peace together, and may you find comfort remembering all the joyful times you all spent together.
Love, Michele Langlois Luz

I am so sorry for your mom’s passing. I would see Janet with Frances on my street, Old Kendall Road, or anywhere in town; she was a mainstay as the whole Clarke family was. Your parents did a lot for Tyngsborough as years went on. Saw your mom last out with those where she lived at the Dream Diner a few years ago. Thank you to you family & all they did.
