I am so very sorry to hear of “Miss McEnaney’s” passing. She was my English teacher at Daley in the early 70s and inspired me to be an English major myself. I will never forget how much fun she made learning and all the times notes were passed back and forth between our class and Mr. McGovern’s class. She was an inspiration and I’m so glad that she was in my life.

Aboard, about, above…she was a class above all other teachers.

Miss McEnany. So very sorry to hear of her passing. I was her student, 8th grade, Daley Jr High, 1972-3. She awakened in me a passion for English, and I’ve carried that (and her lessons in grammar!) all my life. In her class I learned the proper pronoun cases and also found lifelong friends. The best teachers leave bits of themselves in their students. I’ve got Miss McEnany permanently in my heart.

I had her for English for three years. She was great teacher. I remember the scary wrapping story she told near Halloween, it was great. Anyone that had her would remember it. I’ll miss seeing her every now and then.

Marilyn was my most favorite teacher ever. She was such a wonderful person and as I learned later in life, lots of fun. I’m so very sorry to hear of her passing.

She was the best teacher the Daley ever had. So many prepositions, so little time! Let us not forget reciting, “The Highway Man”, long before Loreena McKennit sang it for the world. I am so very thankful for the faith that she had in me.(Despite my being on the permanent detention list.)Rest easy knowing you had a huge impact on every one of your students. Much love to your family, in this time of great sorrow.

Almost 50 years later, I still have fond memories of her as a teacher, a person, and a grammar nerd. I still appreciate-almost every day-things learned from Miss McEnany! I can still recite pronouns by case and prepositions in alphabetical order. And yes, even in Grade 8 in 1972, we knew you she had a flirty thing going with Mr McGovern. God bless.
