Mary E. Wakeham (78), a lifelong resident of Lowell, died peacefully May 15, 2024, at Northwood Rehabilitation Center with family at her side. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Wakeham, who passed in January 2023.

She was born in Lowell, on July 21, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy (McGuirk) Boehm. She attended Lowell public schools and was a proud volunteer at St. Margaret School in Lowell for many years before becoming the school librarian.

Mary loved spending her summers in Ashburnham MA. She was a devout Catholic, who attended church regularly for over 50 years. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family while listening to her endless collection of music.

She is survived by her four children, Robert H. Wakeham and his wife Kristi, Caitlin and her husband Rick, Kara and her husband Tom, and Michael. Mary is also predeceased by her son, Joseph, who sadly passed away in February of 2023.

Mary was Nana to 8 grandchildren, Morgan, Rose, Ryan, Robbie, Caroline, Ronan, Asher and William.

She is survived by many extended family members including her brother-in-law Paul Faucher and her sister-in-law Phyllis Demogenes. She also leaves behind two lifelong friends, Joanne Price, who was supportive until the end and Martha Sue Harris, who she enjoyed her summers with.

She is predeceased by her sister Ruth Faucher, who passed in May 2017.

The family would like to thank the staff at Northwood Rehabilitation who cared for Mary for over 6 years. We are so very thankful to everyone, but especially the nurses and aides that treated our mother with kindness, compassion, and respect during her stay there.

We would especially like to thank her roommate, Kathleen Fitzgerald, who cared for our mom for the last 2 years and treated her like a sister.
