Mary J. (Cortez) Ringwood, 87, a longtime resident of North Chelmsford, MA died after a brief illness Saturday January 16, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.
She was married to the late James D. Ringwood, Sr., who died December 8, 2014. Together, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 24th of that year.
Mary was born in Lowell on October 4, 1928, a daughter of the late Frank and Curina (Mello) Cortez.
Mary attended Lowell High School. She worked for Offset Printing, Family Products, and Picken Printing.
Whether cooking and baking for everyone, visiting with her children, siblings, nieces and nephews, or playing with and caring for her grandchildren, Mary was never happier than when spending time with her family. She also loved vacationing at her camp in Vermont. Mary was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild in June of this year.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony and St. Margaret Parishes.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James D., Jr. and Ann Ringwood of Lowell; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and James E. Clancy III of Chelmsford; five grandchildren, James E. Clancy IV and his wife Christine, Michael A. Clancy and his wife Kara, Kathryn M. Clancy, Matthew C. Clancy, and John J. Clancy; two brothers, Ludgerio Cortez of Chelmsford and John Cortez and his wife, Florence of Lowell; her sister, Julia Morrison of Lowell; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Roach, Victoria McNally, and Mary Perez; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, Anthony, Frank, and Dorothy Cortez, Catherine Silva, Margaret Silva, Thelma Hodgson, Eva Abdallah, and Ruth Machado.
Visiting hours Fri. 3 to 7 P.M. at DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, Funeral Mass Sat. at 9:00 AM at St. Anthony Parish 893 Central St. Lowell, MA. Please meet at the church for the Funeral Mass. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
