Mildred J. Babbitt of Lowell formerly of Billerica, 92, died Saturday April 15, 2017 at Lowell General Hospital from pneumonia.
Born in Billerica, she was one of 8 children of the late Martin and Josephine Bonczar. She graduated from Howe High School with the class of 1942. She raised her family in Billerica before she moved to Lowell where she has lived since 1993.
She may have been in the Women’s Army Corps at Fort Oglethorpe, GA in 1944.
She retired as a secretary from a large Real Estate firm in Boston.
Mildred was a former communicant of St. Andrew Church, Billerica, in her younger years.
She enjoyed gambling at casinos, traveling locally to nearby Indian Reservations, traveling abroad to Portugal and London, and crocheting. Mildred especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked when her family was together.
Mildred is survived by her grandchildren, Tricia and her husband, Mark Burgess of Tyngsboro, Jennifer Schaefer and her husband, Justin of CA, and Scott Babbitt of Billerica; great grandchildren, Emma and Lily Burgess of Tyngsboro and Everett Schaefer of CA; daughter in law, Charlene Babbitt of Billerica, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late J. Brian Babbitt of Billerica who died in 2004. Sister of the late Anna, Stanley, Walter, Sophie, Joan, Joseph, and Frank.
No Visiting hours. Funeral Thursday at 2PM graveside in St. Patrick Cemetery, 1251 Gorham St. Lowell, MA 01852.
