Thoeun Chhuon of Lowell, MA

Thoeun Chhuon, 83, a longtime resident of Lowell, MA, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Vantage Health and Rehab in Chelmsford, MA after a long illness.  He was married to the late Pich Chhong who died May 16, 2016.

Born in Siem Reap, Cambodia he was the beloved son of the late Hen Chhoun and Proeun Prat.

Thoeun was educated in Cambodia. Thoeun was a survivor of the unfortunate circumstances of the Khmer Rouge. He immigrated to the USA on June 23, 1985 and became a US Citizen in 2006.

He was a member of  the Vatt Khmer Temple in Fresno, CA. and Lowell, MA.

He was a faithful Buddhist and enjoyed reading.

Thoeun was a remarkable individual, who not only survived the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge regime but also emerged as a symbol of resilience and strength. he was a survival, someone who overcame unimaginable hardships and challenges during those dark time. Their survival is a testament to their unwavering spirt and determination to preserved in the face of adversity. Beyond their survival, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family held a special place in their heart and they dedicated themselves to protecting and providing for their love ones. Their role as a guardian and their unwavering love and support created a safe and nurturing environment for the family. Thoeun leaves behind a legacy of courage and love. His journey through life serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the strength of the human spirit and the power of love and family. His strength and love will forever be remembered and celebrated for generation to come.

He is survived by his daughters, Rin Chhoun and her husband, Sambo Meach of Lowell, MA and Roeundanee Choun and her husband, Chantha Srey of Lowell, MA, his sons, Boly Chhoun and his wife, Seyean Em of Lowell, MA, Polin Chhoun and his wife, Sida Som of Lowell, MA, Mala Chhoun and his wife, Chhanneng Chhoun of Lowell, MA, Robert Chhoun and his wife, Seyvorn Chhoun of Lowell, MA, 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Thoeun’s visitation will be Sunday, August 4, 2024 starting at 12 Noon at the Dolan Funeral Home and will continue after 2pm at Wat Samaki Khmer Temple, Tyngsboro Rd., N. Chelmsford, MA.
