Ya Oum, age 63, passed away on April 14, 2023, at her home in Chelmsford, MA, surrounded by her loved ones. She was married to her beloved husband, Hay Seak, on January 21, 1980, in Khao I Dang Camp, Thailand, and they had six children and four grandchildren. On January 21, 2023, they celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary together.

Ya was born in Ta Khmau, Cambodia, to Rin Oum and Youn Tun, and she moved to the United States in 1984. She became a U.S. Citizen in 2005 and worked as an Assembler at several manufacturing companies. Her last place of employment was Anixter in Woburn, MA, where she worked for over ten years.

Ya is survived by her husband, Hay Seak, as well as her daughters, sons, and grandchildren. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, but her memory will always be cherished.

She has six brothers and sisters. Rem Oum (Sister in North Grafton, MA), Huen Oum (Brother deceased), Yuen Oum (Sister in Cambodia), Choy Oum (Brother in Lowell, MA), Chek Oum (Sister in Dracut, MA)

She enjoyed traveling, cooking and family gatherings. She takes pleasure in doing things for her family, such as cooking for them. She prioritizes their preferences over her own and always strives to prepare the dishes they enjoy.

Ya, a remarkable woman whose compassion and generosity were boundless. Throughout her life, Ya consistently put the needs of others before her own, exhibiting a kind heart and gentle spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She never sought recognition or reward for her deeds, instead loving unconditionally and treating everyone she met with equal respect and kindness.

As a devoted mother, Ya’s family was always her top priority, and she took immense pride in her children’s accomplishments. She provided unwavering support for her children and encouraged them to pursue their passions and dreams. Additionally, she was always there for her family and friends, making time for them and helping in any way she could.

Ya Oum’s passing has left a void in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of selflessness and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be remembered fondly for the rest of time. May she rest in peace.
