5762ODonnell2Alice Mary (McEvoy) O’Donnell earned her angel wings at 95 years old on Sunday April 3rd, 2016 surrounded by her family and loved ones at her home in North Chelmsford.

She was the wife of the late Thomas L. O’Donnell for 62 years before his passing in Feb. of 2013.

Alice was born on July 9th, 1920 in Lowell, the daughter of the late Leo and Loretta McEvoy. She was a resident of Lowell for many years, a Girl Officer and graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1938.

In her early years she worked at the Lowell Court House for the Middlesex County Registrar of Deeds.

Alice will be forever remembered for her strong Catholic faith, kindness, wisdom, selflessness and endless ability to love. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, “Nana” and great grandmother. Alice was a blessing and a gift to all that knew her. Her legacy will live on in her loved ones’ hearts. Her courage and grace gladdened the hearts of those who had the privilege of loving her.

Alice was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford. She was a former proud parishioner of the Sacred Heart Parish in S. Lowell where she raised her four children.

Alice is survived by her two sons, Thomas Leo O’Donnell and his wife, Sheila of Milton, MA and John J. O’Donnell of Nashua, NH; two daughters, Mary Beth (O’Donnell) Callery and her husband, Richard of Lowell, and Elaine (O’Donnell) Hopper of Mt. Laurel, NJ; seven grandchildren; Allison (O’Donnell) White, Michael O’Donnell, Sean and Jennifer O’Donnell, Brooke (Callery) Dubuque, Laura and Christopher Callery; seven great grandchildren; a niece Leslie McEvoy of NH.

The family wishes to offer special heartfelt thanks to Nana’s homecare companion Heidi Stokes, whose warmth and kindness filled her days with happiness and comfort.

Visiting hours Thurs. 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Fri. at 8:00 a.m. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the Chelmsford Senior Center or Merrimac Valley Hospice 360 Merrimac St. Lawrence, MA 01843 www.homehealthfoundation.org .
