Dorothy Theresa (Kelleher) (Kelly) Markee of North Andover, MA died surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Wingate in Andover.

She was married to Ralph T. Markee, with whom she celebrated their twenty fourth wedding anniversary on August 21st.  She was formerly married to the late John R. Kelly who died on November 27, 1976.

Born in Lowell, on February 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William P. Kelleher and Mary F. (Murphy) Kelleher.  She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1944.

Dorothy worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Ayer District Court until her retirement in 1990. She had previously worked for the New England Telephone Company in Lowell and the Lowell Institution for Savings Bank in Lowell.

She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in North Andover and St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford.

Dorothy enjoyed travel, music, attending family sporting events, but most importantly, she loved being surrounded by her loving family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons, John R. and his wife, Doreen (Moylan) Kelly of Shrewsbury and Robert and his wife, Laurie Kelly of N. Chelmsford; a daughter, Mary Jane and her husband, John Fletcher of Chelmsford; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and five step-children, Ralph T. Markee of Lowell, Leah and her husband, Edward Bedell of Salt Lake City, UT, Cynthia and her husband, Ron Henderson of Atkinson, NH, Mary Beth and her husband, Lars Borgwing of Weston, MA, and Katherine and her husband, William Vasel Jr. of Pepperell.

She was the mother of the late Edward M. Kelly, sister of the late William, Charles, and John Kelleher, Margaret Hoyt, Ruth Neylon, Catherine Connor, and Bernadette Drescher, and grandmother of the late Kathleen F. Kelly and Jason Fletcher.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank the staff at Wingate for their support and care they gave her.

At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Funeral Sat. at 8am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD with a funeral Mass at 9am at St. John the Evangelist, N. Chelmsford. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell. Memorials may be made in her name to the Boston Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
