Mary C. Santos of Lowell, MA

Mary C. Santos, 93, of Lowell, MA died Sunday morning, March 26, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

Born in Lowell, MA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gabriella Santos.

She graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1947.  She is a graduate of Newton Academy Hair Styling and continued working as a hairdresser there until moving on to the Registry of Deeds in Lowell, where she retired as a clerk after many years.  She continued to use her talents styling hair at various funeral parlors in the Lowell area.

Mary loved her family and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking. She had a heart of gold and a strong will.  Mary adored her parakeet, named Penny.

Mary is survived by her niece Doreen Duffy and her partner, Michael McKinnon of Lynn; her nephew, Walter VanDinter Sr. and his wife Marianne of Lowell; her great nephew, Stephen Duffy Jr and his wife Sarah of Lynn and their children, Nathan and Ryan Duffy, her great niece, Heidi Sandler and her husband, Michael of Lowell and their children, Natalie and Jillian Sandler; a great niece-in-law, Jolynn VanDinter of Lowell as well as her children, Travis and Nicholas VanDinter. She is also survived by many friends.

Mary is predeceased by her sister, the late Laura and her husband Walter VanDinter and her great nephews, the late Walter VanDinter Jr. and Michael C. Duffy.

Mary’s visiting hours will be Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4 to 8 PM.  Funeral Friday, 9am from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX STREET, N. CHELMSFORD, MA with a Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, Lowell.  Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in her name to either Boston Children’s Hospital, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 or the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
