Michael Song of Lowell, MA

Michael Song, 69, of Lowell, MA passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Daraveth Lay, with whom he would have celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on July 13.

Born in Battambang, Cambodia, he is the son of the late Yaut Song and the late Van Chhat. He came to the U.S. in 1984 and became a citizen in 2006.

He was a hard worker and dedicated employee to EMD Millipore of Jaffrey, NH until his retirement in June, 2017. He was the owner and operator to Angkor Chhum Market of Lowell and was well liked by all of his customers.

Michael loved taking road trips and tinkering with the latest gadgets. He enjoyed casinos, watching Family Feud, and discovering new things on YouTube. He took pride in gardening and fixing things around his home. He especially loved spending time with his family whom loved him dearly. He was a gentle soul that would lend a hand and put others above himself.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Sophon Song and his wife Sovannary Mok of Windsor, VA; two daughters, Davy Woo and her husband Greg of Wellesley, and Christina Lay and her companion Jonathan Nouv of Lowell; two sisters, Mon Chhat and her husband Nhem Khuy of Columbus, OH, and Sarom Chhat and her husband Srouch Man of Columbus, OH; his brother Youn Song of Cambodia; six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Noeum Vann and Champa Chhat; and niece, Mom Rina Phay
