Prof. Onuegbu Emmanuel Achalu of Pelham, N.H. died Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital. He was married to Dorathy I. Adigwe.
Born in Nigeria, he was the son of the late Peter Achalu and Alice (Nsourah) Achalu. He graduated from Dana College of Nebraska with a BS in Biology and a Master Degree in Rehabilitation Science from Southern Illinois University with a PHD in Health Education.
Emmanuel came to the USA in 1972 and became a US Citizen in 2016.
He retired from University of Uyo of Nigeria.
He was a member of Knights of St. Christopher and Uyo Sports Club.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis and soccer
He is survived by his daughters Chisomu Nwabueze and Martin of Pelham, N.H., Chinwe Uzoma and Uchenna of Nashville, TN and Neneeh Achalu of Lowell, MA, his son Ejiofor Achalu of New York, NY, his sisters Uche Okafor of Nigeria and Patience Achalu of Nigeria, his brother Ernest and Chidiebere Achalu of Nigeria, his grandchildren Osinachi Nwabueze, Munachi Nwabueze, Akili Uzoma, Ace Uzoma and Anaaya Uzoma and many nieces and nephews.
