Robert Louis Mathews of Nashua, NH

Robert Louis Mathews, 87, of Nashua, NH, passed away November 23, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, NH.  He is survived by his loving wife Mary C. (Durda) Mathews with whom he celebrated their 64^th wedding anniversary on January 17, 2023.  Bob and Ginger raised their family in Chelmsford, MA and always considered this their home.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Louis and Doris (Howe) Mathews.  Robert graduated from North Attleboro High School with the class of 1954. After high school he went on to proudly serve with the United States Army in Germany.  Robert retired from Raytheon in Andover, MA after many years.  In his retirement he owned and operated Littleton Flick Theatre in Littleton, MA and Towne House Shoes in Westford, MA.

Robert was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending his summers at Hampton Beach, NH and winters in New Port Richey, FL. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons and their spouses; Michael and Lisa Mathews of Newport Beach, CA, Daniel and Susan Mathews of Rolesville, NC, Kenneth and Jane Mathews of Dana Point, CA, his two daughters and their spouses; Patricia and Charles Spirou of Pelham, NH, Kathleen Mathews and Steven Desort of Merrimack, NH, his brother-in-law and his wife, Scott and Kathy Wilson of Coventry, RI. He was the brother to the late Joseph Mathews.

The joy of his life included eleven grandchildren: Nick, Al, Jackie, Tim, Stephen, Brad, Jules, Anthony, Michaela, Brian, and Kate as well as nine great-grandchildren: Tom, Henry, Millie, Matthew, George, Krieg, Maya, Isabelle and Charlie.
