Roland A. Daigle, 85, of Chelmsford died Dec. 16, 2017 at the Edith Nourse Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford after a long illness.
He was married to Louise (Boucher) Daigle with whom he celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on May 30, 2017. He was truly devoted to his wife as she was to him.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Joseph and Aldea Daigle. He graduated from St. Joseph High School.
He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force for twenty year serving during the Korean and Viet Nam wars.
Roland worked as a boiler engineer for the Highland Laundry and for the maintenance departments at Lowell General Hospital and the Chelmsford Senior Center.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Roland enjoyed fixing anything that did not work. He willing helped his neighbors with their projects.
Besides his wife he is survived by his step daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Robert McCrady of Hudson, NH; brother, Normand Daigle of Dracut; sister, Janet D’Urso of Newport News VA; grandchildren, Lauren and her husband, 2nd Lt. Ryan Smith, Stf. Sgt. Michael McCrady, Catherine “Cara” McCrady; great grandchild, Ava Smith and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Beatrice Young, Paul Daigle, Raymond Daigle, Robert Daigle, Theresa Daigle and Ronald Daigle.
