Thomas J. Martin, husband of 45 years to Linda A. (McNamara) Martin passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Lowell, MA on March 11, 1933, he was the son of the late John R. and Helen M. (Desjardins) Martin.

He was a resident of North Chelmsford for several years and was also a communicant and CCD teacher at St. John the Evangelist Church.

He was educated in the Lowell, MA school system (LHS, class of 1950). He earned a BSBA degree at Merrimack College, class of 1958 and an MBA in Finance from Northeastern University in 1967.

He participated in numerous business endeavors throughout his life. He founded the Public Accounting Firm of Belanger and Martin, CPA’s and most recently completed his career as a Supervisory Auditor and Technical Specialist at the Defense Contract Audit Agency, retiring in July 2005.

He was a member of the AICPA and Mass Society of CPA’s for more than fifty years.

Mr. Martin has been actively involved as a financial and business tax consultant with Accuplus Financial Services and Taxman of North Chelmsford, MA for many years.

Since his retirement from DCAA, Tom has been participating as a Government Contract and business tax consultant with the Kline and Company, CPAs of Nashua, N.H.

Mr. Martin was an active member in many fraternal organizations during his lifetime including the Knickerbocker Club, Elks and Rotary. He was also active for many years as a coach for the Chelmsford Little League. (Special Needs, Patriot Division).

Tom actively followed the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and spent the summer months vacationing with family and friends at his summer home in Wells Maine.

One of his favorite pastimes was walking and playing at the beach with his precious dog called Brandi.

Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Navy with the First Martine Division as a Medical Corpsman during the Korean Conflict receiving an honorable discharge in 1954.

Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Susan) McDonough of Tyngsboro, Ms. Lee Ellen Machado of Dracut and Miss Ruth Ann Martin of North Chelmsford, a son, David Chamberlain and his partner Diane Quinan of New Hampshire, 6 grandchildren, Emily, Annie and Ben McDonough, Logan Alyssa Chamberlain, Kelsey Nichole and Kaitlyn Eleanor Machado, brother-in-law Barry McNamara and his partner Diane Sweeney of Wells Beach, ME, and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Ruth T. (Martin) Mahoney, John O. Martin and Richard A. Martin and uncle of the late John Mahoney, Peter Martin, and Jeffrey McNamara, brother-in-law of the late Dr. Hugh Mahoney, Brian McNamara, and William F. McNamara.

Thank you to High Point Hospice for all of their care they gave to him in the end and also Chelmsford Senior Center for all the love they showed Tom.
