Mary Jo Stanton, 75, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, MA died late Thursday night, September 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was married to Brian J. Stanton with whom she would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on October 11, 2021.

Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward D. Hart and Gertrude V. (Corkery) Hart.  She graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 1964, and was a graduate of AI Business School in Andover with an Associate Degree in Business.

She retired from Chelmsford Public Schools as a Teacher’s Aide at the Parker Middle School.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, cheering for Boston sports teams and everything to do with her grandchildren.  Mary Jo advocated for rescue dogs,and also loved Ireland.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Monique and her husband, Brian Cassidy of Chelmsford, MA and Meghan Stanton of Lakeway, TX, her son, Matthew Stanton of Chelmsford, MA, her brother, Edward Hart of Atlanta, GA, sister-in-law, Janet Hart of Reading, MA, brother-in-law, Joe and his wife, Shirley Overend of Syracuse, NY, 8 grandchildren, Kendall, Aiden and Charlie Stanton, Abigail, Patrick and Zachary Cassidy, Laci Swift and Avery Dion, several nieces and nephews, as well as many longtime friends.

She was the grandmother of the late Declan Cassidy who died January 30, 2000, and sister of the late Michael Hart who died in May 2021.

 

FUNERAL NOTICE

STANTON, Mary Jo Stanton of Chelmsford, MA died Sept. 30, 2020. Visiting hours Wed. 3 to 6 P.M. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, MA.  A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury MA. Memorials may be made in her name to the Tuft Children’s Hospital, Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, 800 Washington St., Boston, MA 02111.
