Rita Nora (Powell) Murray

Rita N. (Powell) Murray of Chelmsford died on February 13, 2015. She was the daughter of Jacob and Nora (McDonough) Powell of South Boston. She was married for over fifty years to the late Thomas J. Murray who died February 15, 1994. They moved to Chelmsford in 1974 where she became a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford.
She is survived by her son, Thomas J. Murray Jr. and his wife, Carol (McLean) of Marshfield and seven grandchildren; Mary and Joanne Sullivan, Susan Bailey and her husband, Craig, of Chelmsford, Donna Giannetti and her husband, Michael, of Amherst, NH, Maureen Murray and her husband Paul Matsudaira, of Singapore, Christine Godino and her husband Paul of Marshfield, and Thomas J. Murray III and his wife, Kristen, of Northborough, Rita also had 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late June M.(Sullivan)Sponholtz of Chelmsford who died Nov. 19, 2013, sister of the late, Mary (Powell) Sullivan, Michael Powell, John Powell, Helen (Powell) Keple, Ann (Powell) O’Connell, Josephine (Powell) Connolly and Theresa Powell.
Over the years, she worked at Mattapan State Hospital, the Federal Reserve Bank, State Street Bank, A&P Tea Company and Semicon Corporation. Rita loved to play bingo and often visited Foxwoods. She also loved spending time with friends including her “Carriage House Friends”.

Visiting hours Thursday 4:00 -8:00 p.m. Funeral Friday at 8:00 a.m. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Chelmsford.
