Alfred R. Savard, 87, of Lowell died Wednesday afternoon, October 17, 2018 at D’Youville Senior Care Center.
He was married to the late Jeanine V. Savard, who died on March 7, 2003.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Alfred R. Sr. and Leona Savard. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Alfred was a firefighter for the City of Lowell, retiring in 1992 from Engine 10 on Old Ferry Rd.
He was a former communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Lowell.
Alfred was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Golf Club and the Lowell Elks No. 87. He was lifelong resident of Lowell.
Alfred was an avid golfer and enjoyed walking.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife, Deniene Savard of Dracut, Christopher and his wife, Michele Savard of Orlando, FL and Timothy and his wife, Christine Savard of Lowell, one daughter, Martha Savard and son-in-law, Norman Ouellette of Litchfield, NH; two sisters, Lorraine Vaughn of Lowell and Gloria Heslin of Lowell; six grandchildren, Samuel Savard, Mackenzie Savard, Matthew Savard, Alicia Savard, Valerie Savard and Connor Savard and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Paul Savard.
At his request, there no visiting hours. Funeral Mon. at 12 Noon from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 1:00 pm at St. Rita Church. Burial at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
