Ann Marie Gagnon, 52, longtime resident of Hudson, NH died Monday, June 11, 2018, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
She was married to Gary Gagnon with whom she would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept 26.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Beatrice Dorofi. She graduated from St. Claire High School with the class of 1984.
Ann Marie was a caring nurse. She graduated from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Boston and continued to work for the St. Elizabeth Hospital for 30 years.
She enjoyed, travelling, biking, camping and had reached her goal of completing two marathons. Above all, she cared for her family and friends, and loved spending time with them.
She was a member of St. Kathryn’s Church in Hudson, NH.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Matthew and Michael Gagnon of Hudson, NH; her brother William Dorofi of Walpole, MA; her sister, Mary Vanacore and her husband Chris of Ringoes, NJ; her mother-in-law, Mary Gagnon of Nashua, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber, and Community Hospice House for their loving support.

My heart aches for Gary, Michael and Matthew to hear of this very sad news! I worked with Ann Marie for 14 years of my career at SEMC. She was a nurse who I would want to take care of me, the highest honor any nurse can giver another. I know I’m not the only one who told her that. All of her patients were thoroughly assessed and not one had a wrinkle in their sheets. God Bless you Ann Marie, you are surely missed!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ann Marie’s passing! She was one of a kind. Ann Marie preceptrd me almost 20 years ago on M7 and was one of the smartest nurses I knew. I’ll always remember how she cared for and advocated for her patients, and yes those perfect white sheets! I will miss getting report from her while getting a quick chat in.

Ann Marie was a very kind and conscientious nurse. I worked with her at St. Elizabeth’s, and was very sad today to hear about her death.
I always enjoyed all of our talks about running, and was very happy for her Marathon accomplishments.

Ann Marie will be missed dearly. Our hearts are heavy on M7. Her battle is over. May she forever rest in peace with God’s angels.
Ann Marie was an exceptional nurse! I always knew if I had a chemo question or concern, she would readily have the answer. In fact she was part of a “Chemo Task Force” on M7. She dedicated 30 years of service to SEMC-what an accomplishment! She was a strong patient advocate, conscientious, reliable and strong. She as well served on the Skin Care Committee with Louise Fleming, who is A+ in Skin Care, being our only skin care “consultant” in the hospital.
Matthew and Michael, Mom was very proud of you both. Both Eagle scouts and both very accomplished. Matthew you made Mom proud as you graduated SNHU with a Master’s Degree and recently relocated to Maryland to live with your cousin. She was happy about that! And Michael, you are finishing up your Sophomore year of college in upstate NY. Keep up the good work! She raised you well.
Ann Marie and I had the good fortune of being stuck at SEMC this winter in a blizzard. We housed ourselves in a pt room on our floor. After our 12-hour shift, we trudged down to the Green Briar in knee deep snow, sat at the bar and enjoyed a good meal and a cold beer. I’ll always remember that night! She insisted on paying as I had a milestone birthday around the corner. And, Ann Marie made me a yummy carrot cake this year for my birthday-she made THE BEST carrot cake.
We had a lot of laughs that night and shared good conversation with others from SEMC at the bar. We slept in the same room in pt beds and awoke early to complete another shift of work. I will miss her.

My heart is so broken hearing this news. I meet Ann Marie 4 years ago when I started training for my first 5K and she was training for her first marathon.
She was always so encouraging and kind. About 1 year later I decided I would train for my first half marathon. I was near the end of my training and we were
running 11 miles. I’ll never forget that day. I was at mile 9.5-10. and I thought “I can’t do this.” Ann Marie saw that I was struggling and stopped to talk
to me. She gave me many words of encouragement and said “I’m going to run with you.” She was clearly a better runner than I and I didn’t want to slow her down.
I told her to go ahead that I would be fine. She told me she was glad to be able to finish the run with me and that I wasn’t holding her back. I’ll never forget how kind she was. I would run into her on occasion in Hudson and I always felt so good after talking to her. I will miss her dearly.

I am so sad to hear of Ann Marie’s passing, I worked with Ann Marie on M7 when I first started at St E’s as a new grad. When I worked with her she was always my go to nurse that I knew I could count on for help or with any question. As years went on I moved on to a different unit but recently we would see each other while working on the skin care team together which was so nice to chat with her again. I’ll miss seeing her as I pass the halls on m7 and always hearing her friendly voice yelling hey Ally how are you how’s your little one. She will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to Ann Marie’s family, thoughts and prayers

I remember Ann Marie so well in the many years I have worked at SEMC. She was a wonderful nurse and very caring. I was always happy to see her and chat with her. She will be greatly missed! My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Ann Marie was the most professional and compassionate nurse I have ever known. She graduated a few years ahead of me, however, I had the honor and privledge of working with Ann Marie as a nursing assistant the summer before my graduation from St E’s. I learned so much from her!! She set the bar high for all nurses with her kindness, knowledge and professionalism. Ironically, 22 years after my graduation, Ann Marie was my Dad’s nurse. She took such excellent care of him and I will never forget that! This world was a better place with Ann Marie in it. Although I do not know all of you (her family), I am so so sorry for your loss❤️ She was so special. I wish you comfort and peace. She is in heaven. No doubt about it!

I was truly saddened to hear of Ann Marie’s passing. I am one of the IV nurses in the hospital and a St. E’s grad. I remember when Ann Marie was in nursing school and was impressed by her dedication. She was such a wonderful, warm and caring person, she immediately put patients at ease. I always said to her if I’m sick I want you to be my nurse! My deepest condolences to Ann Marie’s family. She will be greatly missed at St. Elizabeth’s, God bless you Ann Marie.

I am so sorry to hear that Ann Marie is no longer here with us. Anne Marie was my nurse on M7 when I had surgery last year and I think she drew the short straw !! It is never easy to care to care for a fellow nurse,however she was just the nurse I needed I couldnot have been happier with the compassion she showed towards me and even raised her voice a couple of times which I do remember fondly ! I know she will be missed at SEMC

I can’t think of the appropriate words to express the loss of such a wonderful person.
What a caring, thoughtful, hard worker you were! As others have said before, you were the nurse we would want to take care of us if we were a patient…. the highest of compliments.

The first time Gary introduced us to Ann Marie was when we were living in Dunstable and had three children! She was a natural with kids. My husband reminded me that after they left, all we could say was “How did Gary ever get a girl like that?”.
He can pick ’em. And it went on from there.
