Anne M. King, of Chelmsford, MA died peacefully on October 29th at home with her family by her side.

Anne was married to Dennis F. King.  Anne and Dennis met in 8th grade and recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past May.

She was born in Everett, MA to John and Rosemary (Smith) Howard on May 16, 1942.

Anne graduated from St Rose High School, Chelsea MA (1960) and the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. It was then that she began her career as a Registered Nurse. She helped many new mothers learn to care for the newborns while she worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in the NICU. When she moved to Chelmsford in 1977, she worked for the Chelmsford Public Schools at the Harrington Elementary School as the school nurse. It was here that she treated many scraped knees but most of all she was known for her ability to care for every child as if they were one of her own.

She is survived by her loving husband, and her 3 sons and daughter Dennis and his wife Dana King, Sean King and the late Mindy King, Jennifer and her husband Scott Merrill and Timothy and his wife Sayuri King, all of Chelmsford, MA.

Anne had 4 siblings, Patricia and Jack Gallagher, Margaret Howard, Daniel and Valerie Howard and the late John Howard.

Known as “Gram” to her nine grandchildren, Maggie King, Kaileigh Merrill, Abbie King, Connor Merrill, Dennis (DJ) King, Rebecca Merrill, Liam King, Adam and Arthur King, a great grandchild, Everest. Anne loved attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events, recitals, and graduations.  She hosted many sleepovers with them during school vacations and on an occasion or two may have let them have dessert before dinner.

    To Anne’s Family,

My deepest condolences. Worked 15 years at Harrington School and always a joy to see Anne. Always offered a “hi, hug, and time,” to the children and staff. She cared for everyone like a devoted mother, and the kids always had an excuse to get out of class and “go see the nurse.” She was Number 1 to them! I am blessed to have had our paths cross and miss seeing her in Mkt Basket. Fly high with the Angels, Anne! Heaven, has a new Angel.
