Anthony F. “Tony” Zagzoug, 75, of Westford, MA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home.

He was married to the late Lynne Woodward who passed away on April 20, 1992.

Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Assad and Lorraine “Hilda” (Travis) Zagzoug.

He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1965. After high school he went on to proudly serve with the United Sates Army overseas in Vietnam where he earned the rank of Captain and his Bronze Star and Purple Heart awards for his courageous service.

Tony retired as the Chelmsford Building Commissioner after over 25 years of employment. While serving the town of Chelmsford, he was awarded the prestigious Building Commissioner of the Year Award in 2004 by the Massachusetts Building Inspectors and Commissioners Association. Tony was a longtime member and volunteer of the Chelmsford Elks Lodge No. 2310, the American Legion Post 313 of North Chelmsford and the Town River Yacht Club of Quincy, MA. Some of the things Tony enjoyed most were boating, trips to Aruba, Boston sports teams (despite his claim after the 2003 ALCS that he would never see the Sox win a World Series in his lifetime) and his swimming pool (Cleanest F’n pool in Westford).  Above all else, Tony enjoyed the company of his close friends and family.

Tony is survived by his three sons and their spouses; Richard Zagzoug of Westford, MA, Derek and Mary Zagzoug of Nashua, NH, Damon and Lisa Zagzoug of Shreveport, LA, his daughter and her husband, Arianna and James Motsinger of New York, NY, his brother Arthur “Mickey” Zagzoug of Port St. Lucie, FL, his three sisters; Judy Zagzoug of Burlington, MA, Janis Conlon of Fitchburg, MA, Jeanne and her husband Charles Rice of Sudbury, MA, his four grandchildren; Nicholas Zagzoug, Alexandra Zagzoug, Alia Zagzoug and Kendra Zagzoug, and his many nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Janet Zagzoug and Peter Conlon.
