Arthur A. Chabot Jr. of Westford, MA

Arthur A Chabot Jr. of Westford, age 86, died peacefully at home on January 11, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Carolyn (Farley) Chabot. Born April 13, 1931 in Fall River MA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Blanche Chabot. Following graduation from BMC Durfee high school he joined the US Navy, serving as an aviation electronics technician. After his service in the Navy he joined Raytheon Corporation and later enrolled in the former Lowell Technological Institute, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. During his 37 year career at Raytheon, where he went every day “to play”, he became an electro-optical engineer, designing laser systems in the R&D lab. He was issued three patents and authored or co- authored 30 technical papers. He retired in 1992 as a principal engineer.

Art was a man of many interests. He had a lifelong interest in aviation, held a private pilot’s license for 25 years and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a motorsports enthusiast who followed F1, IndyCar and sports prototype auto racing. An avid reader and nature lover, he enjoyed photography, astronomy and history, and enjoyed feeding and watching birds. In his home workshop he created many things from wooden toys and household furnishings to specialized machine components.

Besides Carolyn, Art leaves behind his children Arthur and Michelle (DiStasio) Chabot of Lunenburg MA, Jonathan Chabot of Westford, MA , Catherine (Chabot) and Bob Roda of Bethel CT. Art also leaves three grandchildren Bobby, Laura and Ian Roda, and his beloved cat Abby.

He was the brother of the late Annette Bosse, and is also survived by many cousins, nieces and a nephew.
